Gull Coast thread. I hope I'm doing this right. This is my first map for BeamNG. It started out as a test map, but I got crazy and put in a ton of hours building it up. The idea was to have one main road completing a circuit around a coastal area with varying terrain. I ended up adding a meandering dirt road to make things more interesting. Planned features: Buildings More roads More rocks More scenarios Details, so many details! how did you get those decals on the roads? sorry for talking off-topic but i cant find out anywhere else nice map by the way.
For most decals, you can use the Decal Tool. Select it, and then select a decal from the sidebar (if you copied art files from another map, this will load stuff from levels/map/art/road and levels/map/art/decals) (See https://wiki.beamng.com/Starting_a_new_map_project for how to implement art files). While the Add mode is selected, you can then click on a surface to place the decal. It can be moved and rotated just like other objects. For intersections, I just used a small decal road to cover the lines up. It's a good trick, but I'll make this into a decal later. Hope this helps! I really wanna focus on the town now. I'll add sidewalks, parking lots, and signs. I'll add a few more roads (just a few) and make the dirt road more bumpy and hazardous. After that, more scenarios! The next update will likely be released late next month.
Ooh nice! I gotta try a lap with the Pigeon. I'm back from vacation, so I'll be working on this map again. I have a lot of ideas stored in my head, and some areas in the map will get reworked massively. I'll try to push an update out by the end of September.
Gull Coast V0.9 is coming! I've been working a lot on the town, and now it's much bigger than before. I still wanna add sidewalks and details, as well as other buildings (ECA buildings can get stale, lol). Right now, my next tasks are implementing more scenarios and adding quick races (or time attacks, as I like to call them). Hopefully, that will take less than a week.
Uploaded! Now I wait. By the way, don't forget to read the changelog. Teaser pic. I made a new rally-ish scenario. I challenge you all to beat it in under 3 minutes! It's possible, but quite hard. Edit: Let me know if the map updated properly. I accidentally renamed the .zip file, and there might be a conflict.
New minor update coming very soon. After that, I will add sidewalks, sounds, outer terrain, and other finishing touches. New scenario. Complete 2 fast laps while dodging traffic and police. Oh, it's very hard. You will laugh; you will cry; you will curse at traffic and police getting in your way at the worst times. If you succeed in it, I'll be impressed. I think this is the hardest scenario that I've ever made; even I fail at it a lot.
Look like I found an easter egg. In scenario press shift-c will make your car disappear. See attachment. I once pushed a car into water and I simply use free camera to watch his demise then this happened.
Ah, so you found my old "anti-cheat" method that I made for that one scenario (tracking down a fleeing vehicle like that would teleport your own vehicle). I'm considering removing it, because perhaps it's up to the player if they want to cheat or not. Dang, I really wanna update this map! It's been a long while. I was ready to add sidewalks and modify some buildings, but then I started working on traffic scenarios, heh. The good news is, I got my hours cut back a bit at my day job, so I can finish what I started here!
