As recently the group faced a lack of activity, and some mods like me are not as active as before due to other stuff, I have decided to create this thread to members to give us suggestions to improve the current state of the group and also to make us hear your voices for change. Everyone can suggest ideas and improvements for the group, starting from the next post.
I think that allowing moderators to approve threads is a start, so there can be a shorter wait to get a thread approved. I don’t think there’s a whole bunch we can do about lack of activity, but I think this group could use some sort of racing/drift thread. I’m not sure how that would be executed, or if it even could be executed, but in my opinion, it would add to the group.
I agree some racing roleplay, and other sorts of things would be great, I tried hosting a Drag Racing competition in the style of a RP, but only one person joined in, if I could get it cleared, I'd bring BHRA here for others to try and enjoy.
what about an FIA type thread, where people can "Fake" build their own race cars and homologate them for racing --- Post updated --- it will have its own thread, just let me go over it with my fellow moderators and i will see what i can do --- Post updated --- so do y'all want a racing themed thread or not
If you're a RPer here with an certain time you may know the Initial Beam thread. That went not too well I guess. But yeah, if you want a racing based thread please specify your rules + regulations to make everything more easier and less messy.
This is the original thread I had for BHRA, if you want to check it out and see if there is a way to incorporate it into a RP style thread, i'd love to host it since I tried this once before so if need be I can copy and paste the original setup and work on it with suggestions.
Honestly I have a (pretty stupid) idea. Let's make a Discord server for us RPers. So anyone can have a second source for BeamNG Rpers to talk and roleplay with.
what about a news section for the group where us moderators (and moderators only) can post anything interesting that happens on the forum like maybe when the rules change, or announcements, or when someone gets banned from the group, etc.
That's for updates and news for the group. I may start one soon. --- Post updated --- Also, from the PSA thread:
this is just an idea, but how abjust an idea, but how about a thread where we can post our characters, with jobs, cars and age. im new here so i dont know if this has been done before
Personally, the whole action movie style roleplay has kept me from posting a lot. That goes for things like shooting down helicopters with a Glock and that everything have to be mayhem and on fire. Also the whole thing with *breaks into car* without any sort of knowledge about what was used, how it was done etc is a little silly and it cuts the roleplay very short. Another main thing is the topics. There should be more structure and perhaps more topics, which I will try to help with when I got the time for it. An example regarding structure is the "Roleplaying YAY" thread. When you jump into it as a newbie to the group, you have absolutely no idea what is going on. If you are to head to the first post to know what's going on, it is missing. That makes it hard to get into the roleplay, or know what to even post in the thread at all. There is way too many sticky threads, and many of them could be cut down to just one thread, for example suggestions could be just one thread instead of two. The roleplay threads should not be sticky, it only brings down the already lack of new threads. I could understand if there was a lot of threads, but right now there just is not enough. The sticky section should always be kept to a minimum if possible. Important things like the rules etc could use a remake, the rules are 3 years old and with poor formatting. More strict moderation in regard to thread approvals would also be nice. Example: Your roleplay specs Owning 18 cars from the worst to the best just is not very realistic in my eyes, and again makes the roleplay very silly. The group has a lot of potential and I believe the above could push it in the right direction. Once again, I will try my best to be making topics in the near future myself and see what I can come up with
Wow, this idea is popular. A thread already exists for this: https://www.beamng.com/threads/your-roleplay-specs.61950/
I agree, you make some excellent points. First off, the whole live-action deal rapid-fire thing is dying down, I’d say. There wasn’t much going on in the group, so partially, I think that was to spin up some excitement, although this “style” of storyline doesn’t hold up very well in the long run. I also agree with the structure argument. Even if you aren’t new to a thread or the group, it can still be confusing. Regarding thread approval, stickiness, and rules, yet again, do I agree. Creative storytelling needs to be open ended, but probably not as open ended as it is now, to the point of confusion. For rules, I honestly couldn’t name a single rule for this group until I looked at the thread just now. I think it’s safe to say that regarding those, there will be some changes coming soon. Thanks for your input, all of it will be considered, and some, if not all of it will likely be implemented. Sorry if this is a bit of a nonsensical ramble, I’m tired, and my brain isn’t firing in all cylinders right now.
