*** Currently not working *** Hi! I'm working on making the hillclimb route from the GoodWood FOS. I can't actually mod so this will be my first mod. That's kind of why I'm making this thread. Also because there was a thread from 2015 but I can't post on there. The way I'll be making the mod is porting it from Assetto Corsa. Again, I don't know how to do this. I will keep this post up to date for how far I am at that moment. So, in summary: I need help from someone for porting from AC. To do: Make file smaller. Remove collision from trees. Fix grass texture. Make grass have more resistance and less grip.
Updates: Update(11-07-21): I download the AC mod and I converted the (7Z) file to a OBJ file because utopiadeferred said I should do it like that. Update(12-07-21): I got the map loaded, without the trees because they had a background, so you really couldn't drive the track. I placed the dae file in the art folder of the 'driftt' mod and now I will make a time trail so everything looks low-key good. Update(13-07-21): I removed the grass from the main .dae file and made it a separate one so it doesn't have collision. Update(14-07-21): I got rid of the grass because it ain't fun when you dip wheel slightly on the grass and the car instantly stops. The ground of he grass needs texture, which I will be working on this week. Update(15-07-21): I started working on some file stuff, which I don't know anything about, and did 2 tests, which both failed very hard. I am doing this file stuff because my mod now works because of another mod, which I don't want. Update(22-07-21): I started working on some file stuff, again. Asked Kolas some help, and he/she/they helped me very well. But it doesn't work *yet*. Update(23-07-21): I've found a way to do it, but it's not good enough... Update(27-07-22): Released the first version! Please contact me if you want it. (or click this link: https://www.mediafire.com/file/945b8i8lddf5pnc/goodwood_hillclimb.zip/file)
I like this, I just went to goodwood with a friend a few days ago. Good luck! I'm sorry I can't help as I have no modding experience.
I also don't have any modding experience. I can release a version Saturday, but it's really big atm. And you need another mod to make it work, but if anyone's interested for a 3GB mod that has white grass, tell me! Lol. I'll be working on the white grass and the size this weekend I think. Edit: It's not that big actually. It's just the mod that's so big. If I make it a .zip file, it's probably about the size of the normal mod. Anyway, I don't want to be independent of that other mod, so I will make my own .zip mod.
As you can see, the map needs work. The orange texture needs to be grass and the white texture needs to be grass. The thing is, the white texture is nowhere to be found, yet. Also, the grass is offset by by 1 diagonal block, but that's a minor fix.
nice, two questions: what's happening with the hale bays and where are the trees looks really good so far
I don't think I can do much about the haybales. The top of them is spiked for some reason. The trees were a problem because. Well look at the pic... The background shouldn't be there and definitely shouldn't have collision. So at the time I decided to get rid of them for then, because I had bigger problems, which are yet to be solved. I have four options for fixing them. 1. Get rid of them (not difficult) 2. Make it a separate .dae file (takes some ~20 minutes, but might not work) 3. Try to remove the background and maybe do option 2 after that. (difficult, might take some trail and error) 4. Remodel them completely (really difficult because I don't know how to do that.)
That's a really good idea! I'll look into it once my world editor is working again. It's going to take a lot of time though...
I did that just 10 minutes ago. And then everything got deleted, but I pressed ctrl+z but then it crashed. The problem is that there already is a 'theForest' in the file(or mod) I'm working with. So if I can get rid of the mod that would be great.
I've done some work on files again. I have an idea of how I could do it, and I'll try it tomorrow or the day after.
Gave this a shot too a couple years ago using the same method. Had a problem with the textures just completely disappearing. I hope you have way better luck than I did. Looks a lot better than my attempt so far!
Thanks! The only thing is, I don't really know how to make progress atm. I only get annoyed that stuff doesn't work...
