The EV1 is one of my favorite cars, so I decided to model it. Completion: Model - 100% Textures - 25% Jbeam - 20% Imgur album Drivetrain components are now close to complete. Front suspension now complete - modified pessima suspension Rear suspension now complete - heavily modified pessima suspension.
The rebirth of the modern electric car is coming to beamng! Can't wait to crush it. ( If you don't know, GM recalled all of the EV1's and crushed them. There are a few rare survivors, though. ) Great job with the modeling so far.
Nice little car that I would like to see in the game And how the Oil companies shut this car off gets me thinking...
Am i the only person on the entire planet who doesnt want electric cars to take over the world and force the mining of lead, lithium, etc to increase astronomically? not to mention when the batteries are "recycled" most of it ends up in a landfill, and batteries are one of the worst things imaginable for those.
i agree with you there is nothing more i hate then electric vehicle i rather have v6 i6 v8 and everything bigger but anyhow this looks like a fun mod
Lithium is pretty environmentally safe. It comes from salt flats and can be mined without much damage to the environment. Besides, gasoline won't get any cleaner. We've reached peak efficiency. The best an average person today can get is around 60mpg at the cost of power, looks and dignity. Electricity storage has the potential to be completely safe. Once you can store energy cleanly, you can take energy directly from the sun, the ground, flowing water and so on for free. No processing either. Lead on the other hand is pretty unfriendly, but lead-acid batteries are not ideal for ev's, so production should actually decrease (lead-acid batteries are used in many modern gasoline cars). Recycling is an issue, but it's a better problem to have than holes in the ozone. The increase of lithium mining is not something to be concerned about. Our methods of extracting oil are without a doubt much riskier and polluting.
I did more research on the EV1, and GM thought people did not want electric cars, so they had all those recalls. But people wanted them. More than 80 people agreed to give GM $1.9 million to bring back the EV1. GM declined the offer.
Besides, their apparently "anti-green" decision is now backfiring on them. The EV1 was probably ahead of its time, but now that eco-sustainability is finally a top priority for all manufacturers, all everyone remembers of the EV1 project is how badly GM shut it down.
Oh, I thought you ment it in a negative way. Sadly, the teardrop design on the EV1 is considered "ugly" and "outdated", plus, advancements in technology make it obsolete. We'll just have to stick to the Chevy Volt, or a Tesla. I still think the EV1 is a more unique car, though.
