Getting BeamNG.Drive any tips?

I am getting Beamng.Drive and I would like some tips for the game once I get my copy for Steam.

if you want to be good at driving, you will need to get a wheel/gamepad or just git gud on the keyboard.

Step 1: Make sure your computer is capable of handling the game.
After that then I suggest this. Go on Gridmap and try out all the vehicles to get the hang of them and to find the one that suits you the best. After that enjoy the game. Explore the Default maps and download mods from either the repository or from the mods page on this website. Most other website mods are sub-par or have viruses-malware.

Use a controller over the keyboard. Will grant you much more control.

Keep 'Dynamic Reflection's Faces Per Update' settings to low (if you use Dynamic Reflections at all) for better frame-rate. It's quite resource hungry.

You can customize your controls how you want from the Controls menu

You can create a custom configuration and set it as your default vehicle by clicking the 'Overwrite Default' button in the vehicle selector.
