It was expensive, front-engined, had front-wheel-drive, and was reasonably good in a crash, which means it was everything the original Beetle wasn't. You've had almost a year to get over it. The real Beetle died in 2003.
And besides, the New Beetle and it's other gen didn't offer much to the table asides from variants that seem to just want to be sportier or be a modern glorification of something the old Beetle did. Scirocco fared much better into the modern world in my opinion.
i've always wanted an old beetle, and based on how freaking well they sold, i don't think it'll be very hard to get my hands on one... --- Post updated --- new beetle is terrible-ish mainly i just liked the rear engine --- Post updated --- do you mean beetle?
The "current" gen and the New Beetle are literally just Golfs with different bodies, which is why some people call the new Beetles 'glorified Golfs'.
I've driven a handful of 2018 Turbo Beetles and they're pretty fun cars. They're no "real" Beetle but it's still sad to see them go.
I like the new Corvette, but hate the new Corvette. I like that it exists and can keep up with exotics now, because it raises the ceiling for other cars GM makes. For years GM has downtuned cars or totally cancelled anything that could threaten the Corvette to make it look faster in comparison to any other GM cars. They will probably make the next gen Camaro's higher trims as fast as the C7, which will allow other models to fill the gap a faster Camaro leaves. So hopefully within a few years, we will see higher performance cars out of GM.
I know the press release been months ago, but I appreciate that Toyota is selling the 2.0 models of the GR Supra in the US. Not only is a more cheaper option that might be more accessible for a wider array of the demographics in the US, but also provides most of the tech and some components that the 3.0 with a degraded yet lighter arrangement. 5.0 seconds for a 0-60 record isn't too bad for what you're sacrificing (and technically it's still pretty quick compared to most of Toyota's lineup). If I ever had the money for one and was looking at options, I would go for a 2.0 model instead of the 3.0 one, although I have nothing against getting the more specced up 3.0.
I went for a 2am drive the other day. There is a stay at home order in my state because of the pandemic. This is the busiest stretch of highway in the region and it was mostly vacant. The rest of the area was almost completely absent of traffic and people. I need to get ahold of a car to practice my Hajwalah with. I found this Nissan Rogue sitting in a desolate rental car garage with the hatch open. All the doors were unlocked and the keys were sitting on the dash. It'd be more tempting to steal it if it wasn't a piece of shit.
Take it, hoon it and dump it into a lake so that nobody will know what happened. --- Post updated --- https://www.motor1.com/news/356610/chevy-camaro-discontinue-2023/ There won't be any next-gen Camaro.
I don't trust Motor1. There may be some truth behind that article, but I don't care until GM says something. Even if the Camaro gets cancelled, the new Corvette still opens doors for more performance cars that are faster than before since they won't "compete with the Corvette."
Agreed—I don't trust any vehicle news publication's "reports" until the manufacturers come out and say it outright. The caption of this article is literally "GM neither confirms nor denies the Camaro's imminent demise," and the first sentence is "Could Chevrolet be on the verge of killing the Camaro again?" (Pro tip: if a news article ever asks a vague question in its title, the answer is always "no.") I've seen more reputable news sources than Motor1 post some absolute horseshit—like when Car and Driver claimed the Jimmy "might be" coming back as a body-on-frame SUV, and posted a poorly photoshopped image of an Acadia (which is unibody) with off-road wheels.
I mean, when you're linked to fucking InsideEVs (which btw has really gone down the shitter), I don't think that you really should trust everything they say. Besides, some of their own articles are almost useless at times or very late to the turn (like the one time they made an article about FH4's Car Pass that had the Transit... that came months before). Just my 2 cents.
It's becoming decision time. The Escort is never getting fixed, and I can't keep borrowing a family member's car forever. Here are some candidates I've found around the internet, first I have so local vehicles that I can afford with cash. Whatever I get is going to have to be at least somewhat reliable and not too expensive to fix when it does break. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/670896070149777/ PT Cruiser GT, but an automatic - I've heard bad things about automatic transmission longevity in these, what say? https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2061765490556468/ 1973 Mercury Montego - basically just left it here as a lark; I'm not in a position right now to take over someone else's headache https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/649795712467562/ 2007 Ford Focus - it's a car! https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/550844932443731/ Saturn VUE w/ manual gearbox - surprisingly common (mainly because the early CVTs were time bombs), not sure if trust. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/704463766724008/ PT Cruiser Turbo - stick shift and looks to be in amazing condition, contacted seller last night but no response so far (of course) https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2394105964039134/ 2002 V6 Mustang convertible - looks beat to death, but it is a manual, which counts for something https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2595721374041102/ 1993 Lincoln Mark VIII - ad says nice driver, photo says lawn ornament, worth the effort of checking out? https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/493950411212892/ Chevy Sonic - some details seem sketch at a glance but could be a deal?
