The other day I was driving and noticed something I think has never been done in a game/simulator: the gear whine when you drive a car in reverse (and sometimes first gear) The reason of this is that, usually, reverse gear uses straight cut gears while the rest of the gears use helical gears. Some race cars use straight cut gears in every gear to increase torque, as you can hear in this video: I know the devs recently started with the sound engineering part of the simulator, and that many sounds are placeholders, put I'd like to know if they plan to implement this little detail, that would make me happy. And if they plan to actually implement a transmission system that actually simulates the difference between helical and straight cut gears I may have a heart attack.
I think in spintires you have that gear whine. Also i F*****ING LIKE YOUR IDEA!!!!! THIS WOULD BE AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love your idea btw the sound system will be eventually completely overhauled/updated, we saw a little bit of this then the .sbeam system came along when the overhaul/update is complete these things will be possible
I think a game named "Midnight club Los Angeles" had a whine sound on certain cars in reverse. I would love small details like this in the game
Ahh, yes I think spintires also had gear whine when you used the winch. And I used to play the hell out of midnight club 3 on my ps2 but never played Los Angeles (wish they kept making them) I can't wait to see (hear) what kind of updates they do to the sound system, I believed they already revamped it (when they added the covet different engine sound)
This feature is in Live for Speed and is featured in a lighter degree in Miura's Auriga Heron mod for Beam. Also I remember the Need for Speed games having reverse whine. It's been done before but yes, BeamNG needs it too.
