For this i am actually making the Bruckell Mountain, This is supposed to be based off the 02-05 Mountaineer By Mercury So far i am into the basics of just making some edits to the Roamer, So i tried to make some body differences. So i went into sketchup and made some minor differences to the running boards on the Roamer.dae file so i could see if it would work, Please Know i backed up the original Roamer.dae from steamapps/common/BeamNG.Drive/Content/vehicles/roamer/vehicles/roamer folder, and i added the new one in, I spawn up the game and i get this. how can i fix this so my edits and the roamer body will still show I know when and if this is ever released it will have to be different and not over right the original .dae file, this is just for me to begin? how can i fix this so my edits and the roamer body will still show? below is the modified Roamer.dae (please back up original roamer.dae from steam folder before putting in this @Nadeox1 @tdev @gabester
Sketchup has renamed all of the objects in the model to "instance_0.001" & "instance_0.002" etc. As such BeamNG cannot find any of the objects since the names have been changed. This is where I will throw in the obligatory "Don't use Sketchup" for BeamNG (or any other game for that matter), it isn't designed for this sort of thing. That isn't to say that it isn't possible, however you very much need to know what you are doing. I know there are 1 or 2 people in the BeamNG community that use it for creating brand new vehicles, I haven't heard of anyone credible using Sketchup to modify existing BeamNG vehicles. There are loads of other programs that you can use such as Maya, Blender, 3dsMax etc Personally I use Blender since it is free of charge and Open Source. Its probably a good all round choice and most people who help out around here understand it. However, be warned that there is a fairly steep learning curve for new users, however it will quickly become very intuitive.
