game crash

hey guys, i want to try the game b4 buying, game seems great, except i need help, every time i quit to main menu from game world, the game crashes. also, i have downloaded a few of the car mods and im 99% sure i have done it all correct but when i try change car in-game, the game crashes to windows, same with other maps. i have tried re-installing both the game and re-downloading the cars/maps. nothing seems to work, even changed the game install to my ssd drive and no difference.
my specs are - win 8.1
16 gig ram
8 core cpu
radeon r9 graphics card

any help would be great.. also i dont seem to be able to find the game updater suggested in other posts in the installation file??

 

You can't use mods in the demo version. And it doesn't include an updater. The game doesn't crash in the current version, but you will only get that version if you buy it.
