Hello everyone, as the title suggests, I'm thinking about getting myself the G27. My main problem is desk space and (dis)mounting it. As for desk space, it would be 24 cm in terms of depth. Could anyone possibly measure it for me? I wouldn't want to buy a wheel just to find out it can't be attached to my desk and I couldn't exactly find the thing I wanted online. And; I do not have to drill a damn hole for it to sit tightly in place, do I? Or will I just tear the whole thing off if I don't? Also, about the handbrake; could anyone recommend a piece of hardware? I find it weird it doesn't have a handbrake anyways. Thanks in advance.
The distance from the edge of the clamps to the nose of the wheel is a bit over 15cm, with 24cm from the edge of the desk you should have enough space for the wheel + cables. You don't have to drill holes to clamp it down, for the most part the built in clamps to a good enough job as long as you don't push down on the wheel too much as there is nothing to hold the front down.
I have had no problem with mine as metalmuncher said, the clamps do a fine job. If I grab a hold of the wheel or shifter and shake it, it shakes my whole desk and monitor So you should not have any problem unless you completely take hold of it and yank really hard which I don't know why you would do that
definatly get the g27 do not go for the g920 they added some "realistc" thing for the brake pedal and I can only just push it down standing on it
Thanks for the replies. Good to know it'll fit and stay there! Although I do use the steering wheel of 'my' RL car voilently at times. Yeah, I heard of that. Realistic if driving a car where the brakes aren't heavily assisted I suppose.
