Hi, I would like to rotate a forest brush, but the only related option allows to set a random rotation spawn range; how can I rotate the forest item to a certain angle?
Can you select them and set a rotation in the properties box? No idea if so, but could be a way to do it.
You can do that, but looks like he wants to brush them instead of manual placing. Not sure why you need to brush linear objects. Also I'm a little bit confused that this windows looks a lot different for me and doesn't even offer that rotation restriction. Can you maybe show more of it so I can see what window you have open?
it's the brush window settings; yes I could import the tree object as a single .dae and rotating it, but I'd need years to complete a vineyard lol
I didn't mean that. I meant place with the forest tool, then use the forest select tool and see if the rotation property is modifiable. I still don't know if that is an option. A better option for you might be to draw a road decal going up and down your field in rows, then use the object to spline tool to place the vines on the decal. Then delete the decal and any vines you don't want (corners, etc.). If you want to place them in spaced lines that is.
I checked, it doesn't work. It rotates them all as one object, which is no use. I think the decal option might be your only one for now. I'm surprised there isn't a rotation option for the forest brush objects, as in the Italy map there are a lot of vines laid in different directions to the default. Perhaps it is just a missing option. Hopefully the devs will see this.
Perhaps you could set the forest items in the scene tree, rotate them like you want and then convert them to forest items again with my tool. I never tried that but my tool should recognize existing forest types even when used in scene tree. https://www.beamng.com/threads/beamng-tool-for-map-creators-updated-2023-12-01.89058/
actually I didn't know that selecting them allow me to rotate, thank you!! the problem is that I have to do it with every single tree object, it's like using it as a .dae asset... I had the same question seeing italy's vineyards, maybe they adjusted every single one. Yes I used decal roads to create rows but for olive trees, turned out really nicely. Next time I'm gonna try Alex's idea edit: for now I make the vineyard with the original rotation, then select every object and rotate all at once; not the best but works
The vineyards a prearranged dae assets. I checked already because I asked myself the same questions as you do
