Update 16/9/2014 I'm trying to find out how to separate the car into different parts. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hello everyone! This is my first post on the forum, and this is also the first model i'm making (besides a teacup from a tutorial). I have been working on it for a couple of days now. I decided to make a car for beamng when LoganT told me he was getting into some jbeam stuff, so we'll be making this together. Here is the progress so far: Tell me what you think of it and what i could improve, as this is my first model.
by making it smooth, do you mean the smooth modifier? because then i get these strange gaps (first pic): and then with the edge split modifier it looks like this (second pic):
I mean the "Smooth" button on the left. And then add the Edge Split. - - - Updated - - - Hit the "+" on the left and click on "Smooth" next to "Flat".
I think it's better now.You can change the angle of the edge split to change its strenghtI give advices it is you choice on how to make it - - - Updated - - - I can give you an example with my model. Here is how it looks with Edge split at 30 degrees. This is the polyflow. Aaannd if I remove the modifier and make it only Smooth then the sharp edges are gone and it looks like rubbish It depends on what car are you making but overall every car has sharp and soft edges and the only solution is Edge Split
OK some updates: made the side intake, and i did many minor adjustments to make it look more accurate
Thanks all! I started working on the back of the car, so here's another little update: - - - Updated - - - I made the window and minor adjustments:
Looking really nice! Kinda reminds me of a Mclaren F1 at this point, which is a very good thing . Polly count looks really good as well, at least to my untrained eyes. Keep it up!
Thank you! It means a lot to me that people say that this looks good, as this is the first real model i am making
Nice, I'm doubly impressed then man! I tried my hand at modeling a few months ago and had a hard time making a decent looking bridge, no way I could make an entire car. Just hope you see this one through till the end, I really want to see this car in game.
haha i started with the hood and started from scratch 3 times again because it looked like crap. But i really wanted to make this car, so i watched a lot of tutorials and then went screwing around in blender.... and tadaa
