I assume being that it is utilizing a ladder chassis, that it is going to have good utility and off-road capabilities?
Things I want it to be: 2-door Removable top V8 F-150 chassis What it's going to be: 4-door For Soccer Moms Food blender 4-cylinder Lifted Focus chassis May god have mercy on our soul.
This article might make you happy. https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/2020-ford-bronco-removable-hardtop-doors-dealer-meeting/ And about the chassis, I heard that it's going to share a chassis with the Ranger. Also, Ford did release this image some time ago. I know I'm dying to see what's under the sheet.
Source? Because all I've found on that thing, according quotes from Ford execs, hints at an offroader like a the Wrangler, and your post looks like a typical "fucking greenie weenies and soccer mommas" circlejerk. https://www.cjponyparts.com/resources/news/2020-ford-bronco https://jalopnik.com/2020-ford-bronco-will-have-removable-top-and-doors-and-1833540489 https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/future-cars/a31079/new-ford-bronco-ranger-details/
And what's wrong with the four-pot? Uses less gas, doesn't sound like a blender, makes good power, much better emissions, cheaper to make, the advantages are limitless. Also from the images i've seen it's a Body-on-frame and runs a two door body. Also, OJ Simpson's original parole date was within four months of the Bronco's release, but he got let out in 2018 (?) for good behavior. Ooh, j u s t i n t i m e f o r p a r o l e .
Wikipedia says it's a 4 door body on frame SUV on the T6 platform. I can see a small 4 cylinder in a minitruck, even the first gen Bronco's, but it seems a bit small for a modern Bronco. It just doesn't feel right, even if the numbers are there on paper.
I don't think that information on Wikipedia is even accurate. All of the other sources I've checked have said other things, like 2-door, removable doors and hardtop, etc.
There's nothing cheaper about the 2.3 turbo. It sounds horrible, uses premium fuel, turbo lags to oblivion, and has to use a bunch of strengthened internals. I'd rather it be electric than have some soulless snail equipped turbo food blender.
If it ends up as a Wrangler competitor inspired by then gen 1 Bronco that would be cool, but I'm not convinced Ford wants go that route; they have been out of that segment for so long and would have to face the market donination the Wrangler has. The Bronco, like the Chevy Zora, has so many concept/unofficial sketches/etc... that it's hard to tell what's official and speculated and outdated at this point.
The teaser Ford released does suggest a Wrangler competitor. The shape of it looks a lot like the 2004 Concept. However, I don't know what Ford has planned for the Baby Bronco though.
The baby Bronco might be the smaller crossover version of the Bronco and complete with the Blazer. Pure speculation tho.
Very much possible. I wouldn't rule out the possibility of it being a Renegade competitor though, as that's something I've also seen float around. Since I mentioned it, this is probably what the Baby Bronco is going to look like. Every source I've seen says these are images of the Baby Bronco. The third image I think also helps reinforce the possibility of the Bronco being a Wrangler competitor. Note the boxy shadow in the middle image
