I think it'd be pretty cool to have the option between OEM flywheels (single and dualmass) aswell as aftermarket lightweight flywheels. Possibly even another option of a defined weight, so you could screw around with 1 pound and 500 pound flywheels. Don't see why not? :)

There could be official lightweight flywheels for the sunburst rally & race car, pessima rally & race, etc.

Thing is you could do this by yourself. All you need to change is the inertia value in the engine jbeam but you will need to change other values for it to react properly. high inertia value results in heavy flywheel and vice versa.

But it is a good idea and would be an easy way to increase engine options without much effort.

I hope someday this will be part of a bigger, more comprehensive overhaul. At the moment, GTA V and Beamng are pretty much on par when it comes to engine tuning. That does not bode well for a game whose main selling point is its in depth simulation of vehicles and parts. Hopefully, with the new, more complex drivetrain and engine simulation, there will be an option to change parts inside the engine, such as the spark plugs, camshaft, spark plugs, engine block, etc.

If you guys suggest a vehicle i will quickly make some file so you can see how it is done. Mostly likely a heavy diesel type fly wheel, the stock one which i will not change, aswell as a lighter sports one and an ultralight race one. On second thoughts i'll just do it for the sunburst now as i have about and hour to myself at school as a free lesson and the sunburst suits those type of clutches so, just wait a bit and i'll do it. Should be done in less than an hour.

Here is the files, the flywheels included are
    - Heavy Duty Diesel flywheel, adds around twice the wieght to the engine making it harder to stall and rev a bit slower
    - Stock unedited flywheel, same as the 2.0L engine with stock intake
    - Sport lightweight flywheel weighing between the sport flywheel and the race one
    - Race Ultralight flywheel, Wieghing less than half of the stock flywheel, as the stock 2.0L is so gutless it starts to become a disadvantage at low speeds. This is because the lower weight of this flywheel makes the engine want to stall/die similiar to an F1 engine from the lack of weight to keep it spinning especially with a fullsize car that weighs between 1200-1400kg. (The sunburst's wieght).

Only works with the sunburst 2.0L inline 4 and it overwrites game files
To use simply select which flywheel you want from the custom slot

Please don't expect me to make more as this was done to show a concept and help people learn how to do it. It is also not worthy to be released as a mod so don't ask for that either.

    Have fun.

This would be something I've wanted for so long, and it isnt even anything to complicated, as well as giving a variety of USEFUL options, I can think of plenty of times I would have rather had more inertia or less.

The reason why BeamNG cant have ultra very indepth engine tunning its because it would need to create dynamic torque lines. But yes, i do support the option to change flywheels.
