I have emailed the beamng team about this already but I thought it would be a good idea to ask the community, Do you thing the fire/smoke particle effects should be updated to be more....Realistic? Or maybe with a more serious crash, the car explodes sending smokey shrapnel everywhere. -And for weaker CPU's this can be optional in the options menu-
Fire also needs to freaking emit light like fire does! And cars on fire need the paint to turn black!
This is true, However, think of how far this game has already come! It's amazing that we already have fire and stuff.
they can tho....... --- Post updated --- I like the idea of improved fire. its just kind of there for show at the moment. and to pop your tires.
I propose an invisible burn texture on the car, that unfades when a car burns. --- Post updated --- And invisible sand, dirt, mud, and snow layers that do the same thing.
Just a little idea, maybe after awhile the fire causes the hinges to fall off...? If that's even possible.

Considering it blows out all of the wheels after a while I think the code is there, just needs tweaking
I don't get it, how would a fire cause thick metal hinges to suddenly disappear? If anything I expect those to be one of the only parts left on a burnt car.
It shouldn't be that hard to code the vehicle colour value to slowly turn to full (or near?) black. Tires explode after a certain amount of time in the fire, paint could gradually turn black after a certain amount of time in the fire, too. The only problem I see is that you can't turn different parts of the paint darker than others without a vehicle skin in the current game. Maybe if we had a separate skin that's transparent until a fire starts, then it slowly turns parts of the car black coming from the origin of the fire, slowly turning black around that one point. Now the only problem that I see with that method is I don't think the game updates vehicle skins in real-time. Eventually I could see it being implemented, as that's probably how paint scratches and other similar effects will be done.
Nope, that's from a movie. A fuel tank can't explode that easily, a explosion has to have a lot of energy in a confined space, but a fuel tank can't hold enough gas for a sudden explosion. Fuel inside a normal fuel tank can't ignite that quickly, unless from a different source maybe. Oh and it wouldn't bounce into the air unless it was hit by a cannon shell or something of that nature.
