So, 2 days ago I upgraded my system to an AMD Ryzen 5 1600 (I had an AMD A8-6600K before, and it was capable of running the game without crashes with the same GPU as now.)

And now when I try to run the game, it just crashes with the aforementioned error (I did not change the GPU, it stayed as it was)

The GPU in question is an Gainward Geforce GTX 1060 3 GB.

I don't know what is happening, maybe the GPU is all of a sudden faulty (was handled properly when reinstalling)

I have tried clearing the cache, it does not work.

    • Have you tried to update :
      • Bios
      • GPU Driver
      • motherboard drivers
    • Can you run other games/application? (If yes stress test it a bit)

Adding to the above, that message can also show if your GPU is overclocked.
In that case, return it to its stock settings.

    bios should be updated
GPU drivers are the newest ones
    idk about mobo drivers

I tried to run CS:GO, and it worked flawlessly. But GTA V crashed on load, DiRT 3 flickered green and purple.

I tried stress testing with FurMark, and it ran, but not at 1080p.

    It is not overclocked.

    How old and what brand?

PSU loses something like 10% of it's rated output per year, so with 500W you probably are fine unless PSU is many years old.

Ok, from the internet I did read that 550W should be plenty for such system, but you have 5 years on your PSU, so that is probably going to be quite close under full load.

However that is just one thing that came to my mind, it is possible that there is some other reasons for what you see, mb fault, memory fault, from some reason GPU and MB don't work together, also some Bios setting too.

It could be that it is known little adjustment needed that is known by Ryzen experts for example, sadly I don't know of such.

no, I went for the "Reset this PC" option instead.

    Is that a massive problem?

I had this issue and did a clean re-installation of the latest drivers. It helped, but merely a bit: the game still crashes, on occasion. It does it far less often than before, but it's still a present issue.

    I run an RX 580 8GB.

What if you slightly down-clock the GPU?
AMD GPUs tend to do weird stuff at times, even a very slight downclock can help (and should be unnoticeable)
