Lately I've been trying to learn how to drift with a fanatec carrera wheel. I'm using LFS, with force feedback set to 0, other wise the wheel can't turn for shit. I'm using max drift mode, max spring, 900ยบ, on the wheel's settings. Any tips? My main problem, other than my own lack of practice is that the wheel just doesn't turn fast enough. I can do some basic powersliding, but "real" drifting is impossible. Even at max rotation speed, the wheel sounds like 10 billion dying cats, because it's gear driven and...compared to the G25, which is also gear driven, quite badly engineered.
Does your wheel have drift mode? My Fanatec 911 Turbo S does. I usually put it at 2 or 3. It lightens up the steering and gives you a sort of power assist when you're drifting - very helpful.
Drift mode all the way to 5 ;P How fast does your wheel turn at its max speed? It might be a mechanical problem. Though even with all the "right" settings for optimum speed, it seems to turn faster when it's off, than when it's on. Like there's some sort of "built in" limiter or something. It doesn't go fast enough to spin it lock to lock in a second, like you'd need to in alot of drifting situations.
Ah. I bought it used for pretty cheap, the rubber on the edge isn't even the original color anymore....Maybe it's just old age....
Porsche 911 gt3 here. The drift mode works with force feedback, so if you have that disabled or turned down, it won't work. Mine works fine for drifting, don't even have to have it on 3/3). 2 usually works fine for the most serious shit.
Hmmm. Maybe I just suck at drifting. Though it does feel like the wheel, even at 3/3 drift mode is quite slow to turn. Then again...I probably just suck at drifting.
