I'm surprised after using the advanced search, I never found a suggestion like this.

In a nutshell, if all engine sounds will be designed to replicate the sound of the motor with no exhaust or headers, we can get more of a simulation in this particular field, by letting the actual exhaust parts modify the engine sound. Each exhaust would have a unique tone to it, and I can't see it being a CPU hog. The effect of the engine's tone from the exhaust could be simply a lower gain setting along with a custom parametric EQ setting, or other similar audio effects that can be applied to the exhaust.

I just fell this would be a simpler and more natural way to implement exhaust systems, and best of all, we can finally make that sweet exhaust you took hours to get the physical side done, sound the way it's supposed to.

Another cool example, this can lead to a more realistic effect when your exhaust is breaking off, leaking or cracking, as you can feature a "crossfade"(two sound clips at once with a specific ratio between them) type effect between the sound of the engine alone blending with the exhaust tone, so it really sounds like you're losing your exhaust when you humped the sidewalk cause you had too much oversteer on a corner you tried to dominate in generic city ;p
