I feel like BeamNG.Drive is lacking multiple engine types,
    list as follows
    V12
    V10
    W8
    W12
the next list is a bit far fetched
    Inline Five
    Flat six
    VR6

Most cars in BeamNG don't need those engines because they will basically make the car overpowered. Meaning that it will be hard to control. Sure, a V10 in the ETK 8XX-Series or ETK K-Series would be fun, but these cars don't even have a V8. V12's though could be used for cars like the Civetta Bolide. A 420, 450, or even 490 could include V12's. VR6's basically are V6's, but slightly thinner. Good suggestions though.

A V8 or even V10 in slightly older versions of the 800-series and K-series wouldn't be out of the question. The Bolide seems pretty much set on V8s, and Italian supercar manufacturers seem to use only one engine type in each car, because they use cylinder count to distinguish "upper" and "lower" series cars. So today's Ferrari 488 with its V8 is a descendant of the old 308 from the 70's and 80's, while V12s are reserved for FR grand tourers and halo hypercars (F50, Enzo, LaFerrari). Lamborghini isn't going to build a V12 Huracan because a V12 denotes the top dog in the lineup, from the Miura through today's Aventador. Sometimes these rules are flexible over time - the Dino 206 & 246 used V6 engines rather than the flat-crank V8s of their successors, and older halo Ferraris such as the 288 GTO and F40 used flat-crank V8s, but the Dinos still work to prove my point (fewer cylinders than the top dogs) and the older hyper-Ferraris used turbos at a time when the rest of that company's lineup - excluding the tax-ducker 208, which was probably out of production by then - didn't.

So, in other words, a V12 Civetta would probably be a larger, more touring-oriented car rather than just an even faster Bolide.

I'd argue that W8s and W12s (and to an extent the VR6) are more far fetched than Straight 5s. W layout engines are almost entirely only seen in VW cars, whereas Straight 5s are a lot more common.

I'd love to see more diesel engines. The ETK I-series could definitely use a 2.0L diesel 4 cylinder and a 3.0L diesel inline-six, turbo and non-turbo, in typical mercedes style ;p

I5s aren't that farfetched. In a older German car, it is highly possible.

I didn't knew that and it makes a lot of sense. Thank you.

As for OPs. Inline 5 are more common than W type engines. BeamNG will be likely be adding more engine types as more cars are added. Before the miramar there were no 1.6 carbed inline 4 in what i ASSUME (i REALLY think it is) an OHV engine.

Not only Volks Wagens. The new Bugatti Chiron and its older brother the Veyron both use W16 engines.

What about a 1.6 litre V6 ala Mitsubishi 6A10 (was and still is the worlds smallest factory v6)?

Yeah, I know. But that doesn't mean that VW designs and engineers Bugatti's engines. Same goes for Scania, Audi, and what other companies VW owns.

The miramar is actually SOHC (the game says so in the parts selector). It makes sense, if you consider that it's somewhat a luxury/high end car (most japanese cars of the time had 1.0-1.2L engines, with 1.6L engines being reserved for the rare sports models)

Actually it does. I'm sure that Bugatti will have made their own changes to the engine, but the W16 is developed from VW's W8 (from the B5.5 Passat) and W12 (Bentley/high end Audis) engines.

As far as I'm aware the W16 was even described as being two W8s mated at the crank. It's definitely a VW engine.
