I noticed how the ignition thing in BeamNG has been extended. Now you can turn on the ignition without starting the engine, a very nice feature. You have to hold the ignition button to start the car. However, I noticed that I am still able to start the vehicle, even when the automatic gear selector is in gear. In real life, this probably wouldn't work on automatic cars that are from like 90's (maybe even 80's) and up. You have to put it into Park or Neutral in order to start the engine. I noticed that this feature is even implented in my 90's Toyota Corolla. It won't allow me to crank the engine when the gear selector is not in Neutral or Park.

This principle could also be implented in BeamNG Drive. It's a small thing really, but it makes it just abit more realistic, and that's what we're after, right?

I'm suggesting adding this "immobilizer" to automatic transmission vehicles from 90's and up. If the automatic gear selecting is not in Park or Neutral and the player tries to crank it, there could be a message in the UI saying: "Shift the gear selector into Park or Neutral in order to start the engine".

Maybe some late 80's / early 90's luxery cars could also have this immobilizer implented, like the ETK I-series.

    Optional addition 1:
You could even extent this feature by not being able to shift out of Park when the ignition is turned off. I remember from my 1999 Mercedes E class that without the key in, you wouldn't normally be able to shift out of Park. This feature could maybe be implented on the modern luxery cars like the Bastion, the 800-series or the K-series. So you can't shift out of park unless the ignition is in the "accessories" or "on" position.

    Optional addition 2:
If a car has push button ignition, you can even add a feature to having the brake pedal depressed in order to start. You also see this in push button ignition cars in real life.

    Optional addition 3:
I don't drive manual alot, but I noticed that some modern manual transmission vehicles also won't allow you to crank the engine, unless you depress the clutch pedal. This could also be implented in modern manual vehicles in BeamNG.

and you also need to add the ability to switch gears of the automatic transmission only when you press the brake
