I started with drifting AWD cars as it was way easier and intuitive to drift on a keybord... Then I tried to bind my mouse for acceleration and turning, and it was fun. Now I drift on a steering wheel and trying to learn RWD drifting as well as AWD. I would say that the most important is to set the suspension and differecials properly. If its an AWD car, I would lock the central diff as hard as possible, weld the rear one and leave some little power lock rate on a front diff (pre-load and coast lock I set to 0). So I make drifting videos as well https://www.youtube.com/@Danil-cy6sh/videos
You don't actually need that much power to make AWD car drift, even on a dry asphalt. You just want your tires to be as narrow as possible and keep the tire pressure really high, just enough to steer properly And you don't want to put a lot torque on the front wheels, just enough to keep it stable when you put the pedal to the metal Suspension settings is something you always gonna experement with, it is probably mostly about driving style Here im drifting a lightweight car with just about 500 horsepower
