Yeah i still have my Galaxy Ace 1 lying around on a shelf Currently I have an A3 2017 which is ok, cheap compact phone with OLED screen. Battery life is excellent (2 days!). Downside is the 16 gigs of internal storage.
No,you cant Your hardware wont support, even the hardware supports, if samsung not offers any updates, its un-updateable Google cant just realese a android version that suport all device Because android phones has huge variety of hardware, some cheap cr@p some Insane Flagships, When a new android version realsed, Every manufactuner must tweak it first for each of thier phones, and they add tons of sh1ts to the os interfence to make thier phone looks cool, and thats eats tons of time and energy(also money) and updating 2years+ device seems unprofitable for them(especeialy the cheaper ones) And anyway, for some reason updating your phone OS, doesnt realy important, if your apps stil work fine on it , its still okay(for me ), (Google nexus and pixel are recomended if you want your os Always Up-to-date)
There might be Android 5, 6 or 7 custom ROMs for that phone available, but you really should consider upgrading because Ace is a really old phone.
