Hey guys, I have been working on a TD42t sound mod and it works quite well but as it is a diesel I can’t get any BOV (Flutter) sounds when I decelerate. I have tried playing with the BOV settings in the engine Jbeam and also flutter settings but nothing I do will make it work. I can’t find any information online at all on how to make it work could someone please point me in the right direction please. here’s a photo of my GQ mesh slap for your troubles
BeamNG doesn't support BOV on Diesels for whatever reason. Probably what they call "too niche" to implement as with proper Automated-Manual Transmissions. Needs to be custom coded, as our partner did for our Gavril T-Series Expansion Pack.
Why do you want a BOV on a diesel? Is that some niche thing? Diesels usually don't need BOVs as they have no throttle plate that closes off throttle.
Note: the following explanation is mostly my guess, which can be inaccurate. Some(not all) diesel engine when lifting off gas too quickly, the lack of combustion might make the gases(inside the cylinders) to lose momentum, since the gas right before turbine entry is still pressurized. The engine right after the inlet compressor might suddenly slow down, while at the same time the compressor is still spinning at high speed. This might cause compressor surge that may shorten turbo life. Jet engines also don't have throttle plate but some of them are equipped with bleed valves between compressor stages to release pressure during rapid power adjustment.
Yeah it sort of is There's a few cool videos on YouTube demonstrating diesel blow off. --- Post updated --- You can check out the GTG T-Series Expansion pack to see how to go about. If you then still might have questions just fire away
yeah I checked that out last night and I also joined the discord and asked some questions. I’ll keep trying to figure it out and see if I can get it working. All I want is it to flutter when I decelerate as most TD42’s with big turbos and 3” straight through exhausts and stainless steel snorkels do flutter
Seems to be a pretty popular thing in brazil, search "Pente na turbina" The TD42t in particular sounds like:
