This has probably been posted before, but I didn't see it. "The Terrible" is the closest thing so far to a derby car, but as far as actual derby cars go, it's pretty far off. Just a few things that would make it a bit more enjoyable. The bumpers should be attached with chains and harder to knock off. In BeamNG, bumpers get pretty torn up rather quickly, but those old bumpers are actually pretty damn sturdy, and often are connected to the car itself. "welds" should be simulated so that doors can't come open and the front side panels on the cars can't peel off, as well as keeping the front of the hood held down and the trunk closed Different tire options remove extra seats Roll Cage All mirrors and trim removed Obligatory straight exhaust pipes http://hartin.com/ This website gives a pretty in-depth explanation of things that go into a making a derby car.
Too be fair, When did gabester say the terrible was suppost to be a derby car? This is a Unofficial idea of what "the terrible" could be
I don't think we "really" need that much of a derby car, I mean there's a map, there's a car, go crash some cars! Maybe someone later down the road will make a Moonhawk derby, but for now, just have fun with it. Gabe won't do that, there's no need. EDIT: If you really want a derby car, you could always learn how to mod and model it yourself.
This has been posted before by me, ( Demolition-Derby-specific-vehicle-parts) though I do like that it gets the extra attention. Honestly, this game is a simulation game... For wrecking, for driving, for everything. If you talk to anyone that has derbied or watches derbies, and ask them about what makes a derby car, you'll hear them talk about stacks, (headers) Welding or chains, removal of all glass and trim. If you talk to the guys that actually derby, they'll go as far in depth as to talk about clutch packs in the transmisisons, transmission coolers, radi-barrels, battery boxes, dash bars, stuffing, plating, and so on... If you think about it, the things mentioned in the original post on this thread really are not complex at all when it comes to an actual demolition derby... And, honestly, who wants to get their door stuck in someone's fender every 3 minutes? Welding the body panels shut, and chaining or welding the bumper on to the car have significant impacts on the car's strength. And that's what they do with real derby cars, so why not? And by the way, you all missed the main point of the thread. He's not talking about making the moonhawk a derby car. He means that there should be parts for all cars to make them better derby cars. Though we need some more land yachts IMO Edit: Instead of shooting this idea down immediately, why don't you guys ask about these parts we talk about instead of just automatically assuming and saying that it's not needed. If you want to simulate a demolition derby, then you should do it right the first time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_lnibfbKog And here's a video. Do you see any body panels coming off? DO you see many bumpers coming off? Do you see how insanely built this suicide door Lincoln is? Can you see the header's on the car? Do you notice how this car sounds completely different with those headers?
You do realise this game isn't intended to just be a car-crash game, let alone a demo derby simulator, right? The game was never meant to solely focus on demo derbys... Besides, ripping the interior out of all the cars Gabe has built and closing everything off again with metal isn't just a few minutes work, it would require adding more textures, UVing parts. We're talking hours and hours of work per car here... Besides that, this could've easily been posted in the vehicle suggestions thread, pinned to the top of this forum... I'm not sure why people keep ignoring that thread, thinking their thread is much more important or something?.
I do fully realize this isn't just a derby simulator, and it's not just a car-crash game... As I said in my post, this game is a vehicle destruction AND driving simulator. I'm just saying, they have realistic tracks already, they have the damage physics perfect for it... IS putting a couple 4x4 inch patches on the body panels really that demanding? And by the way, you can already rip all the seats out of the moonhawk... So, asking for that in some other cars really isn't too much to ask for is it? And honestly, I thought the vehicle suggestion thread was for vehicles you would like to see in the game, not modifications to vehicles... I may be mistaken
+1 vote for Demo Derby. This is to support the idea of making anything possible. Some people want to Gran Turismo, some people want to Ace Combat, and some of us just want to Flatout.
I fully support demolition derby for this game. There isn't another game like this that has such good damage. Some people may frown upon demolition derby for this game but I believe with cars done the right way people would have a blast destroying cars. I would love to be able to model all the stuff myself but I seriously lack the skills. If demolition derby is going to be part of this game I would like to see it done right.
I think removing seats in all cars and rollcages would be a good idea. Not just for derby, but racing too.
Here's a good point I didn't think about. There are many forms of racing, and many modifications made to derby cars would also apply to cars used in races. I know I'm a bit late on this, but why are people on this forum so uptight? This is a suggestion forum. Devs are welcome to completely ignore me if they choose, I never stated that it must be added. It was simply a suggestion. People will nit-pick to the very bone, I mean, come on, don't try getting onto me telling me I posted in the wrong forum when this is the Suggestion forum.
