So I've noticed that even on the most simple maps with non-intensive cars [Gridmap and a covet] tire skid decals create loads of lagg. There should be an option to change [lower] the limit of how many decals can be rendered at one time.
That's an issue on your side, here skidmarks doesn't create any sort of performance issue (and that's the first time I hear somebody reporting such thing). What are your PC specs?
I thought this has been a problem of the past with huge mesh and has been fixed since ... are you sure you run the latest version?
Frame rate goes below 30 even with a GTX 970 if you spend minutes doing donuts in one place. That kind of situation was very laggy with my old computer, but not really an issue otherwise.
I have the same issue, it began after the last update. (GTX 960) Earlier in an older version i never had performance issues with skidmarks. (GTX 650)
My FPS gets very unstable after there have been lots of skid marks, even after they all dissapear my fps tends to flip out between 30-60 on "GRIDMAP" - official map. I5-3570k 16gb ddr3 1600mhz ram 4x4gb GTX 770 2gb Win 7 64bit 1080P playing medium to high usually sometimes lower to save on GPU overhead. Literally sometimes now my whole game is very unplayable, flicking between 30-60 checked cpu not throttling and running pretty good. My GPU might be dying x.x for real. GPU shouldn't have any thermal issues as it never goes above 68C on a very hot day in canada as it has two fans. 68C might be the highest I've ever seen it go which would be very rare. - - - Updated - - - STRESS TEST, CHANGED SETTINGS NEW STRESS TEST SOMETHING WENT WRONG GPU HIT 77-78C (imported from here) early bar is 68 degrees than it shows the gpu drop after turning off the stress test and turning it back on with lower settings. No comment on the spazzy fan situation there. [I know that 85-90+ is when one should worry but what the hell just happened.]
This is true. I wish there was a command to clear all skidmarks, because after a while drifting, maps start to stutter than downright lag, I can see framerates around the 40s on Pure Grid just by doing a lot of burn outs.
