It's also a lot of guesswork and help from reference images, as long as it somewhat follows the blueprint's lines and looks close to the reference image it's fine.
DON'T GIVE UP! It takes a very long time as others have said. I've finally just started to use Blender more myself to create my own models. (I too began with that low-poly cube method to learn shortcuts better.) I made a few to help learn Blender better (and as assets for a friend's Roblox game since they're so LQ): An attempt at recreating one of my old drawings that failed: And where I am finally at now! Still a long way to go. Blender is an excellent tool! Just a lot to learn. Takes time.
Blender improves your concept of 3D space and how things relate to each other as well. It’s a pretty neat feeling. You will also become much better at noticing variations in shapes and textures. And you’ll be able to see when something isn’t aligned perfectly like those pictures on your living room wall.
I can model well, but blueprints really confuse me if I'm honest! I'm better at just making things by eye lol Really the things I've done before is creating things in Scrap Mechanic and Stormworks. It's definitely helped me designing in Blender
