I created sounds in the .ogg format using Vegas Movie Studio but the sounds do not work, is my .ogg format wrong?
BeamNG.drive doesn't seem to support sound LUA's anymore. Mods that originally had custom sounds all use the default sounds. Although, the Covet has custom sounds generated from a .sbeam file.
Yes, you just need to make your own sbeam file for your ogg files, check the default common sound files for an example.
All game cars (except maybe covet) use a modifier in the sbeam file to adjust the sound of "V8_default.ogg" in the common files.I do not know what the "16_exhaust_rpmhere.ogg" common files are for.
Circled in blue are modified sounds for the bus i gave them the same name as what the hatch is using. I copied the sounds path from the hatch to my vehicle and it worked (the bus has the hatch sounds). So I created custom .ogg sound files and named it the exact name of the hatch files (which in theory should work) but it doesn't.. I had this same problem about a year back, no one could help so i gave up
It works! Thanks! Now I just have to add it to the zip file with the next release. Ill post a video to youtube with a link.
Will BeamNG know to look in the mods folder for it? or should i point it to the mods folder like this: C:/ users / name / documents / BeamNG drive / mods / vehicles / school bus / sounds / etc..
Yes, the game will know to look there. I've even had it work without any path in it, only the filename and extension. Not sure that's how it's meant to be done though. Oh yeah, the game will work with mono wav files too.
How do you find this path? I searched in documents/beamng/mods/vehicles/common but I couldnt find the "common" folder
That file is originally a zip file in the vehicles folder in the BeamNG installation (steam install location) what I did was copy the common.zip file and put it in Documents / BeamNG Drive / mods / vehicles folder. Next unzip the file (so it can be modified) and delete the common.zip file, then go back to the original install location (steam) and rename common.zip to common.zips (so BeamNG won't use it). The sound file is in common / sounds, it's .ogg format mono. All you have to do is take a sound clip around 2.7 seconds and render it as .ogg mono and replace the original sound files with that.
You don't need to rename the original common.zip or even match the sound's length. You can put the custom sound files, including the default_sounds.sbeam (although this probably should be renamed to schoolbus_sounds.sbeam), inside a sounds folder in your mod. The sbeam should be modified to look in the right places. I'm even pretty sure that you don't need to put the path in the sbeam file as long as the sounds are in the same folder as it is. You'd just need to put the sound's filename and extension in.
i went to the BeamNG installation folder and checked everywhere in that folder, but didn't find the common.zip file.
