[Crash] BeamNG.drive 0.37.4 crashes with Fanatec CSL DD base connected

Hey everyone,

I’m running into a really frustrating problem with my Fanatec CSL DD and BeamNG.drive (v0.37.4, build 18723). The game runs fine with just keyboard and mouse, but the second I connect my CSL DD in PC mode (red LED), the whole game crashes instantly. Even if I try plugging the base in while the game is already running, it immediately throws a 0x00000001 error and shuts down.

I checked the logs and it looks like the crash happens during DirectInput device detection. It finds the CSL DD, then a weird “joystick0” entry shows up with a corrupted name, and after that BeamNG just dies.

I’ve already tried different Fanatec drivers (468, 455, 447), multiple Steam launch options like -safe and -disable-hid, and even did a full clean reinstall of the game and wiped out my Documents\BeamNG.drive folder. Same result every time.

It really feels like a DirectInput compatibility bug between BeamNG and Fanatec’s drivers. Is anyone else with a CSL DD (or maybe another Fanatec DD base) running into the same crash? And if so, have you found any workaround? Would also love to know if the devs are aware of this and if a fix is on the way.
