CPU VS. GPU: which should i upgrade to make BeamNG smoother?

I have a pretty decent graphics card and processor, and they work well together. The can't run everything at 60 on ultra, it works for most of my games. But, BeamNG is a pretty hardware-intensive game and seeing as I haven't upgraded in a while, I was hoping I could get BeamNG to run at a stable 60. What I would like to know is what would give me more frames per second at normal quality: a better graphics card or a better processor.

I use the "normal" quality preset and it normally says above 30 for me, but some cars like the Burnside and the Moonhawk take it down to 20-15 fps. I know ram is not an issue because i have 16 GB of DDR4. If any more specifics might be needed about what happens in-game, i would be more than happy to provide them. I can also do some videos, but they will be at a lower frame rate than usual gameplay.

CPU: AMD A8-5600K APU with radeon graphics
GPU: AMD R9 200 Series (am trying to find specific card name, if anyone could pm and help me with that, that'd be great.)

I will appreciate any feedback given.

I will post something when i have put specific part names on it, but i have edited it to include the general names of my components.
    --- Post updated ---
I have updated it to include as much info as i could find. My computer only lists my gpu as "amd r9 200 series" so i dont have much else to put there.

I'm guessing by the fact that you don't know your PC's specs that well that you have a prebuilt PC?
If it is, just tell us the model number/name of the PC.

Looks like the single thread performance isn't that great. Even an i3-4130 would supposedly beat it.
That combined with the fact that some AMD processor cores share some parts between them... Not great for BeamNG.drive.

First off that is an AMD processor not designed to do massive calculations

    And this post proves it...

as for it....you seriously need to get with Intel for gaming like this :)

So that explains why in slow-mo the game runs smoother.
    Thanks for the help, guys!

That Processor was NOT designed for gaming it can handle the Slow-mo but at normal speed it will not like you..

CPU isn't nearly powerful enough. I don't know exactly what GPU you have, but it's at least - and probably, unless your system is massively unbalanced - an R9 270, which can easily run BeamNG in mid settings no reflections 1080p @60fps.

Get a new CPU. Go with Intel, at least an entry level Haswell or Skylake i5 (i5-4460 or i5-6400). I recommend Haswell since Skylake requires DDR4 RAM (Haswell is DDR3 so you don't need new RAM).
Go to the first link in my signature for more info on CPUs

I looked up my exact processor because I remembered it was at least somewhat gaming focused. So is this just a general AMD processor problem or does mine just suck? I was hoping to stay with AMD because that would make using my current motherboard easier.

No, if he does that, he'll need a new motherboard.

Although, given he has an APU right now, he might need to buy a new mobo to get a decent CPU.

So why are amd processors so inferior? or is it just the fact that it's an apu?

AMD processors don't have the single threaded performance that Intel chips do. They just don't. And BeamNG really needs single threaded performance. AMD's coming Zen architecture will be better.

    Oh. Okay.

can anyone recommend a good mid range Intel chip at a good price? if it had a similar general performance (outside if Beam) and clock speed to the one i have now (3.6 GHz), that'd be great.
