    Hey,

I bought the game "Drive" today and install it successfull but when the game will do an update it says: Couldn`t resolve host name / Unable to get current version: please check your internet connection.
I`m really sure that I`m connected. Had someone the same problem ? I hope someone can help me with this problem :)

(Sorry for my Englisch. It is not so good ^^)

    I'm getting this error aswell.
I've tried just installing it normally, and even "run as admin"
both of em just get the "Couldn't resolve hostname"

Not sure what else to try.

I suppose there's always a computer restart, guess I'll give that a try.

[edit: it did not V: ]

When I try to do the update it reaches this point and then that error pops up.

And I'm positive my connection is fine, otherwise I wouldn't be typing this here..
    online..
    on the forums..
    on the internet V:

I have one idea I want to try..
but I can;t really do it since I don't know if anybody I know owns the game yet or not :B

    [edit]
I downloaded it again after it was changed to a zip, and it still fails at the updater part.

Sounds like AV is blocking the updater. Try closing it and running it again to see if it was AV interfering.

Can you go to Start -> Run -> type 'cmd' (without the quotes) and then type 'nslookup update.beamng.com' and tell me the output? It sounds like there is a DNS issue. You should see an IP address of 5.9.65.167. If you don't see that IP address, then I'd suggest 2 things:

1.) Adding Google's public DNS server as your secondary DNS server (https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using)
2.) Adding the following to the hosts file:
    2.a) Go to Start -> Run -> type '%systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\'
2.b) Shift-right click the hosts file and click 'Open with...' and then select Notepad
2.c) Copy paste the following to the bottom of the file and then try running it again:

    5.9.65.167 update.beamng.com

    I t returned with the 5.9.64.167 ip.

Also to add,[If the info is useful] The Techdemo installs and runs just fine, so here's something about the updater that is having issues with my computer.

I've just bought access last night, but receive the exact same message every time I try installing / running the game.
The techdemo works fine. I tried the fixes mentioned above, none of which make any difference.
I assume the problem is with the server?

    Hey,

I may find a solution in an other thread:
If you run the Internet with an proxy server the updater wouldn`t update the game. I only go hear:
Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Connections -> Proxy Servers and disable the proxy. And now it work and update the game successfull :)
I hope it will work for you too.

Thanks for that. I couldn't find "Proxy Servers" under Connections. I did however remove my vpn from "Connections", but without luck.
It would appear more and more people are getting this message, so one would think someone "official" would at least acknowledge there's a problem.

I seem to have solved the problem. The guides posted above me are almost correct - it would seem you guys are using a different version of windows, seeing as I don't have the same options as you do.
    Here goes:

Click start, then type "internet options"
    Go to Connections
    Click LAN Settings
Remove tick from "Use a proxy server for your lan..."

Close and try running the updater again. I sincerely hope this works for the rest of you people. It annoyed the hell out of me
