Copies of old versions

Does anyone have copies of old versions that you're willing to give to me?

I'm after copies of 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, and 0.7 versions of the game.

 

Probably hard to find. However it will be cool if they had a classic version you could download of the first public version for nostalgia and historical purposes

 

0.4 is downloadable from the steam beta tab, 0.3 is available here:https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1xQkqhiwyrqw8LU9YzmXVb5E-4zxHw7N7?usp=sharing
0.6 and 0.7 are a bit more complicated tho, find the manifest ids on steamDB and Download them on the steam console

 

I already knew that you could get 0.4 from the Steam beta tab and use the manifest ID to download any older version on Steam.

Because I didn't know about the manifest ID method until after I created this thread.
Also, thanks for the link to copies of those old 0.3 versions, I'm downloading them right now!

 

The download for those files on that link doesn't work. Is there another way to get them?

Sorry to bother you guys but privacy is forbidden in the forum rules. I don't know how this thread hasn't been deleted by a moderator since July. So a piece of advice @simsimw, delete your link before a moderator comes through here and possibly sanctions you.
If someone wants an old version, Steam have some ones in the Beta Branch tab. These versions have been archive because of deprecated supports of DirectX 9, 10 and 32-bit executable. 0.3 doesn't need to be archived by the developers.

 

This is not piracy, it’s for archival purposes. We have shared this link for over a year and no moderator has ever removed it

I am back home now and yay it works. I'm playing the 0.3.6.9 (nice) experimental build. I am so happy I found the google drive link

 

Yes it is, It's as if you posted an "archive" of 0.15. You share a paid version for free, that's piracy. 0.3 is still considered as a paid version, like at its release in 2013.

Well, you're lucky. Because others threads (and me in the past) have been warned because of piracy subjects.

Well, I'm just warning you about the illegality, otherwise it means that anyone can do anything without ever being punished.

 

I’m telling you. We have DMed the moterators and devs in January 2023 and they did not say we couldn’t share this. We don’t allow any version from post 2015. These versions are too old to represent the work of the devs, which also goes for the tech demos. If you were to download these, there is no way for you to download the latest build or any versions without buying the game. Archival is legal and to some extent doesn’t have piracy laws. The software shared must be so old or different that no one could use the old versions instead and still enjoy current mods and gameplay. No one is using these for piracy. No one wants to use 2015 beamNG instead of current versions for piracy

 

This is stupid, why would moderators take down threads on the subject of piracy, but this one would be an exception? Don't take me for an idiot. Ask anyone “conscientious” and they will tell you that it will always be piracy. Knowing that 0.3 has a license key which is normally purchased, by sharing the version for free you are giving the key to everyone for free.

Well, no. That doesn't stop people from doing a simple Google search and finding what they should only find on Steam.

because it's not something that you can buy. it is impossible to purchase the versions from pre 2015. if you buy the game you can play any version from 2015 and beyond. i bought the game and i can't use my key on older versions.

if they were to sell these ancient versions then yeah, it would be illegal.

 

Also, don't tell me that an archive isn't piracy. In this case, downloading Windows 98 is an archive but not piracy. Well, where did you find the license key? On the web by a simple search, so you didn't paid it, so this is still piracy.

 

I couldn't share Minecraft 1.2 or something if i wanted to, because that version is still obtainable if you buy the game same goes for any Beamng version 0.4 and after

Well, each time someone upload a pre-2015 cracked version, it is taken down, so this don't make any sense. If the moderators cannot do something with your Google Drive link, they can modify your message and remove the link.

well yes, downloading windows 98 isn't piracy. they don't offer keys nor downloads officially. so you can't profit off selling their work, so it has to be free

 

2 years ago, I got warned by moderators for asking some 0.3- versions on a thread and the thread got deleted without any version upload. So I don't understand why Sickminecraft45 didn't get warned, he did the same thing than me 2 years ago.
Has the rules changed since the time?
