Will there ever be a Clutch Thermal App in the making?.... one that shows Clutch Wear and Temperature.. Also Clutch types with different temperature ratings would be a cool idea
Some perormance clutches should be a thing, as doing any sort of drifting with high powered fullsize just ends up in destroying the clutch. The same with pulling some super heavy stuff with the semi. I feel like it wouldn't be that hard to implement as it already has certain hard temperature and overheating points.
That is why I'm using torque converter. When I'm on 1st gear low-low clutch burns even on level ground at steady speed at times, but this is something like 1-2kph at engine's max rpm which tends to bug out things a bit, even when using stabilization code. Fun experiment is to turn off clutch helps, then let semi idle, again at lowest gearing pop the clutch and let it spin wheels at very slow rate against a wall, clutch will slip as well as wheels will slip. If I remember correctly there was something like "clutchTorque": ? Could use that to beef up things and make those sport clutches? IRL you can't shut off semi with low gears, you have to use big gears, be strong at brakes and pop up the clutch fast, torque at idle is just insane in those, if you are slow, turbo will spool up and clutch will burn. So it is not that unrealistic or bad that clutch burns when doing silly stuff which I always end up doing, somehow Other thing with semis is that drive line parts tend to break up if clutch will hold, low gears are bit dangerous to use as there is that expensive sound coming from someplace underside of the frame. It is quite hard to get brain around that much of torque.
The clutch torque is calculated by automatically from what I remember. It was set manually before the transmissions revamp, but now it is different. I don't know if manual way still works, I'd have to check it.
I remember setting something manually despite being automatically calculated, I think it was the clutch torque, but I'm not sure, it might of been torque converter torque too, probably override is still there though, which might be very useful for many things. You could make a beater config to have worn clutch for example by setting torque bit too low, so it slips slightly at maximum stress etc. How I wish there would be comprehensive list of all little keywords we can use
Yeah that would be usefull... But lets face it. The wiki NEEDS an update. It is workable, but some stuff could be more clear.
