i was wondering if a project i had in mind was possible. my budget is 50 dollars

i want an led strip on the side of my computer, programmed to act as a thermometer for the cpu. doesnt have to be pretty, i just wanna have a visual indication approximating the current temperature when im in fullscreen gaming. this is what im thinking:

uses the motherboard sensors via usb
15 or so leds that incrementally light up for each 5 degrees

if youre asking why, i wanna overclock with air cooling.

Well, your budget is most definitely large enough for your project but I'm not completely sure how you could actually achieve that. I know that some RGB software will allow you to do a color change for temp but the lighting each light up individually seems like an interesting challenge. I'm sure that there's someone out there who has done it but probably with a special LED strip and/or software not available to the average person.
