I was thinking about it and you guys have the perfect framework to implement one of the most beloved (Old broken and desprately needing a reboot PROPERLY) game mechanics. There's an old Activision Value game which has a cult following at this point called Redline: Street Legal Racing. I'm pointing it out because the career works by dumping you in with some money and telling you to go buy a car. There's a new lot with pristine factory finish cars and a used lot with everything from slightly used factory stock cars to upgraded cars and cars that have parts missing or broken and need repairs. The other thing that tends to make it well known is the garage system. You can go into the garage and buy parts individually then go to the car and remove the parts by hand to replace them with new ones or different ones including building up the engine and drivetrain how you want it. Where your cars are already very much in pieces it would already be pretty easy to do this and I think it would be a great idea! If you're interested in checking out what I mean go to GOM-Team.com and the game is available for free as a user updated version. I'd love to see something like this in a new game that works properly! Keep up the great work either way!
I second this notion. Whilst it would be immensely hard to implement, I assume with time anything is possible. The idea of buying cars in varied conditions and having to upgrade them is pretty cool.
Plus, to buy parts instead of using the parts select and having to replace parts if they are broken would be awesome.
It has been mentioned SO many times the devs really want to try and do something like this(at least Gabester does), that I'm just gonna lock the thread. Everything has been discussed before on this subject, so please use the search function and look up the old threads(no need to bump them unless you got something useful to add to that). Just search for Redline: Street Legal Racing, or RSLR or whatever. It'll come up.
