i saw a 1/2 working mod in ror of a car crusher and i was thinking how awesome it would be to be able to crush cars.
Probably & probably not. If possible, then it would probably only crush them to about the height of the wheels, maybe more if the wheels are removed. Then there's the wheels themselves, which will probably better be removed before crushing. You would have to be careful with the crushing to avoid collision issues (there are hardly any uptil now, but neither has anyone tried huge force applied slowly & steadily). There is also (I think) the uncertainty of how things will behave with the crusher itself having the huge stiffness, strength, & ability to use a huge amount of force. Oh, & also FPS issue, normal car crashes are different, but crushing a whole car is different. It might (again, I think & I'm not sure about this) cause a higher drop in FPS & might render some people with slow PCs with too low FPS while trying to crush a car. But this all is assuming that it is possible. I'm no expert, so I would wait for more learned people or the Devs to reply on this topic. Either way, this would be worked on after release, assuming it's possible.
I have the mod. It's a little subpar, but it gets the job done. Sort of. The biggest problem here is that the surface which crushes the vehicle only interacts with a handful of beams, which is intended, but not suitable for turning cars into things that are no longer cars. You'll get lots of clipping, and odds and ends sticking up from the mesh. If BeamNG can pull accurate car crushing off, I'll be seriously impressed. On an unrelated note, "clipping" looks like "dipping" with this typeface, and "c lipping" looks ridiculous. Can we adjust the tracking of the type, or do I just have to put up with it?
I love this idea. Even if it has loads if issues it would be fun. I'm sure someone will make it but a doubt their will be an official one.
