Place your 16bit .png heightmap in the CONTENT folder. Not sure that's the tech way but it works right now.:D

    C:/Program files/Steam/steamapps/common/BeamNG.drive/levels

    That's where worked for me.

I'm having sort of the same problem. I'm not getting the 'Failed to load Terrain' error anymore, that stop 2 builds ago. Now I'm just getting a totally flat terrain. I have made sure of the format (not that I ever did before and had no problems) and have even exported a heightmap of one of my levels and simply copyed and pasted the heightmap over it but to no prevail. I'm itching to try out the maps that L3DT makes :) http://www.bundysoft.com/docs/doku.php?id=l3dt:gallery thanks for reading.

Sorry, just want to clarify. I thought that white was no depth and like 250RGB (very light grey) was slightly deep and anything more will cause it to have issues. If you look at the Industrial level depth map, it's all white and light specs of nearly white for the mud at the sides of the road. I'm not trying to correct you as I still can't get them to work at all, having tried all bit formats plus putting it in the documents level folder as well. Just trying all ends to conclude this as I really need them to work for the levels that I plan to release soon. Cheers.

I am also unable to get any of my heightmaps to import. I have tried putting the .png file for the heightmap in the levels folder and content folder on my C:\\ drive for my beamng location so c:\\program files(X86)\steam\steamapps\common\beamng\content\levels other location would be documents\beamng\levels. I have even tried to import it when it is saved on just my desktop in a folder and all three locations failed for me. I am saving it as heightmap.png so I am thinking now that the name of the file might have something to do with it, probably doesn't like it being a different name from the folder.

If you are making a level, make your WIP folder in:

    Documents/BeamNG.Drive/mods/levels

And put your Heightmap and whatever you need in there.
When you import a heightmap, make sure you change the HEIGHT value (By default it's 50) to something higher, or you will end up with an 'almost flat' map.

Any modification you save in the editor will be located in:

    Documents/BeamNG.Drive/levels

If you delete that folder, the game will load the one from 'mods/levels'
Once in a while, when you are sure about your changes, simply copy the content from that folder to your folder in 'mods/levels' (That way those become the definitive changes).

Thanks for the reply man, but it still isn't really working.

    (imported from here)

    Keep getting this error.

Map is 2048x2048 exported from L3DT.

    Import paramaters C:/Users/Oncy/Documents/BeamNG.drive/levels/testlevel/heightfield.png

Edit: Okay, right not ideal, but still worked.
