I have a heavily used xbox controller so the thumb sticks are a tiny bit loose. I noticed that when my joystick is in the neutral position my steering wheel is slightly veered to the left or right. So is there a way i can set a 5% dead zone or anything like that?

Open the inputmap for your controller (the console should show what the filename is) in \scripts\client\inputmaps and find:

    "$gp_deadzone = "-0.15 0.15";"

This is the percent deadzone. It's 15% by default. You can just change those two numbers to raise or lower the deadzone.

    Thread bump!

On this dead zone setting. dose this work for the Right thumbstick for look? Cause I noticed that the right stick has no deadzone at all. I can leave it centered and the camera will constantly rotate under the car.

I will though set the dead zone in that to -0.25 0.25 and see what happens

Press ESC, go to options, Controls, click on the "legacy screeen" button.
If you've done that, you should see a deadzone text box once you do anything with your controller.
You can change it to whatever you want.

The thread is OLD. The method described above is no more used.

The method for the current version of the game is:

    - Go to CONTROLS menu
    - Click on the binding you want to edit and change the values.
