Ok so i kinda know C drive is better to run Beamng but i don't fully understand the "why" im hoping Devs can kindly explain why in general terms. I would love to move my 173GB of downloands/mods onto my external SSD but not if it will cause issuses with the game running, loading etc.I already have .30 on my external hard drive but my mods are in C drive taking up my precious RAM, I saw on another thread something about needing to be on the local C in order for content to load faster, but I am very green to this aspect and I want know the WHY

SSDs are faster because they dont have physical disks inside. Your D drive is a SSD, so it should be fine moving the game to that drive.

If the drive is plugged in via USB, the max transfer speed of the port could cause longer load times.

Moving games to different drives shouldn't cause an issue. But I'd suggest reinstalling the game to the other drive. The only thing that could cause problems (really just longer loading times) is those port transfer speeds, and drive speeds (SSD or HDD).

Also, if you do end up moving the game, copy and paste your mods folder somewhere, and paste it back into the userfolder once the game is installed on the d drive.

for curiosity sake, ive never seen a userfolder with 173gb on it lol,

pretty sure an SSD will make your game load faster (the data is loaded off the SSD rather than your hard drive), then again it prob wont fix how slow the game's UI is

I have a lot of vehicles I like to run, I have a ton of variety in my garage lol. I am using a thunderbolt cable that transmits at 40GBs/sec so loading speed shouldn’t be an issue my concern is any conflict in changing the default location

Ok I want to follow you precisely here because I’m more of a novice than a veteran at this right now. So! My .30 BeamNG game I have downloaded from steam onto my D drive. My mods (173GB’s) are on my C drive. You’re basically saying I should swap them and place the mods on the D drive and place the Game back onto the C drive?

Sorry, I worded my post a bit weird and somewhat misunderstood your question, lol. But yes, what you said is what I meant.

If you want to do it, copy your mods folder from the current 0.30 folder, and paste it somewhere on your PC. Save any other things you want, like custom settings, configs, etc. Then, uninstall the game (make sure to remove all beamng files from the steam folder and Appdata). Reinstall to the C drive, and once it installs, start the game and in the launcher, change the location of the userfolder to the d drive.

Once that's done, start up the game to the main menu to generate the userfolder. Then paste in any folders/files you saved from the old userfolder into the new userfolder in the d drive. Make sure to delete any folder that you want to paste in that's already in the new userfolder (for example delete the "mods" folder in the d drive userfolder if you're pasting in the old "mods" folder).

    Hope this helps :)

I kinda follow you , so the mods folder which contains my 173GB, copy that folder. Now the part that evades my novice brain is removing the BeamNG file, on Steam I have the option of simply moving the location of the file. Wouldn’t that be the same result of uninstalling then reinstalling?

I guess you can do that, yes. Although I'm not sure how steam handles it. You can try doing that, and just make a backup of your userfolder just in case.
