BeamNG.Drive is a very fun, realistic game/simulator. Deformation is very realistic, but I feel as if the vehicle's specific parts should be able to tear after a certain amount of force. for example, metal can crack (as most of us know). In beamng.drive, this is not true. metal only deforms, and glass breaks and rubber bends. If we were to implement a system to make each specific part of the vehicles able to tear apart I think it would be more realistic. (Scratches could also help make the game feel more realistic but that's for another thread)
Not possible or easily done due to the engine's Jbeam handling i think. If a car has to have a part break off it has to be taken into consideration as an entirely different part. At best you can do that with a body on frame car (i dont think you can do that on the current stock game tho) but having the actual material break would not be easy to do AND look good.
Like Dr.Death said is not possible to happen now but remember this game is still a WIP so maybe It will be added later
Hey, at least individual parts deform and come off. In Live For Speed the cars deform as a single piece and like clay too.
Plastic bumpers, carbon fiber spoilers and such, and even the tanker trailer for the T-series can rip, tear, and break, but the visuals just aren't there yet.
What about mods? things like the b-25 Mitchel? That mod had many different parts that could break off. Is there any way that we could use that? If we had the textures in a specific part of the tear go invisible, that could solve the part where textures (like the tire glitch) stretch. I noticed on a broken mod, a piece of the tailgate broke off. Normally I wouldn't see this as an issue, but as I started to drive, the textures kept on stretching to try to connect. Maybe if specific beams or nodes were "breakable" we could get the game to visually have broken metal.
