The old system of clearing the cache was so much quicker. This one takes forever. Why was it changed. I've been waiting for about 30 minutes now and its still going. At this point should I just I leave it over night?

Agree, it's super annoying, especially for skin creation when I need to regularly clear cache to get my skin to show up.

Why not just manually delete the cache folder?

    It's located in Documents\BeamNG.drive\.

You have 111k folders, and 110k files are being moved into the backup folder.

Moving to backup folders happens when you have files that do not belong to the game, that are located in folders they don't belong to. For example a mod placed in the wrong folder.

That's a very high number for moved files, it means a lot of your stuff was in the wrong place.

My mods are allocated on a completely different harddrive than the game, so I don't think that's the problem.

I see, I didn't realise that. Does that mean that it will get better each time? Thanks for the response!

Why does the game Verify Integrity after I press Clear Cache? I'm just curious, as I don't think it was answered here.

It was answered in the 0.15 feedback thread.
The 'Clear Cache' does not just blindly remove* stuff.
It first runs an integrity check to see what files need to stay.
For example we don't remove your vehicle configurations, or levels files (for distracted modders :D).
Once it checks that, it then decided what to delete, what not to, and what to move into the backup folders (ie. files that should not be in a specific folder).

It can take longer or less, depending on how much stuff you have there and how long your PC takes to go through them.
OP has 11K folders and 100k files, which is a lot.

*it really just moves them to a backup folder, in case somebody does that to only find out it has wiped its WIP mod or similar cases. The backup folder is not loaded by the game, and you can remove it anytime.

Hey so, I figured this out a while ago, but its not a problem any more. It only actually takes about 1 minute, the problem was that my User file was set to the root of the drive, so it tried to move my entire steam library to backup which broke a bunch of shit. but its fixed now and it quick. you can lock this thread or delete it if you need/want
