It has already been Greenlit, but we are not yet ready to start selling it on Steam (too many bugs, not enough features, and not user-friendly enough )
Once the devs release the game it will be there only chance to gain a good impression on Steam and may be the only time this game may get front page exposure, they're completely in the right when it comes to an excessive perfectionism prior to this release.
There is a free techdemo or you can buy the alpha everyone else is playing... Why should they give it to you specifically?
Because it is still not very user friendly and is lacking, the alpha is more like a tech demo than anything esle, but if it is on steam what will happen to those who bought the alpha already__
I think both you guys need to use the search button in future. Race update is being worked on and will probably go to steam. Existing purchasers get a steam key.
People will never learn about that button. it is a sad truth. no matter how much we teach them, it will sit there neglected as they post a new thread
Source? Have you seen the games released on greenlight? Theyre mostly finished games with a few incremental updates. I Figure this game is less than 50% completed from all that its planned. With so many features not working yet, even with the Race Update, like openCL, occulus rift, force feedback, its faaar from complete
Pretty sure the devs said that already in a dev blog. But they can use steam early access anyways as implied above.
If you want an advice, take your time to release on steam. You will only get one chance to succeed over there. Their forums are brutal, and could leave toll on you guys and the development of BeamNG. People are very critic over there for anything they paid for, even if its only a few bucks. So go with your feelings, and release when you think it is ready. ie: when you would be satisfied as a first time buyer, buying it on steam early access. Sure people can expect bugs, but a lot are unforgiving even in EA state. People need to realize that big studios are working what, 1-2 years to release one of their mainstream crap vol XX, and they do it with a full team of people. Indie devs are working on a fraction of these teams, and often for much longer hours. So you cannot expect the same development rate, and often their product is much more complex to begin with, and they make stuff that's not been done before, unlike releasing the same title year after year. These guys are passionate, and it shows. Minecraft wasn't built within 6 months or 2 years... it is still being built... don't forget that I'm sure you can expect the beamng guys to be working on this project for a long time to come I thought I would offer my 2 cents because there are always people saying release, release, release, but when things get released too quick and are buggy, people will then complain.. Either way you have complaints, but one is better than the other in my book
