"BeamNG.drive.exe is not a valid Win32 application"

Just purchased and installed the game. Trying to run either launcher.exe or BeamNg.drive.exe results in an error message, the one in the title, appearing and the application not running. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1, 64 bit. I had downloaded and ran the tech demo earlier to day without problem. Reinstalling did not solve the issue.

 

This is a known issue caused by your antivirus attempting to run and scan the files while they are still downloading, thus corrupting them. Do a complete reinstall again, with your antivirus temporarily disabled. Feel free to scan the files manually after they've installed if you're really afraid you bought a virus, once they're downloaded fully by the updater your AV shouldn't cause any issues with its mucking around.

Norton and McAfee are the two worst offenders, if you have either you can be guaranteed it interfered, and expired trials of these softwares are also known to cause issues.

Edit: Unfortunately its up to the antivirus vendors to fix this issue, the most BeamNG can do is tell them about the problem and ask them to fix it.
