I am planning on building a PC soon, and I was wondering if the recommended settings are still accurate due to lots of updates ever since the game was created. If they are not, can someone please give me some updated ones? Thanks.

The game has been pretty well optimized, so if you can run the tech demo, you'll run the full game better. Make sure you do have a graphics card that supports dx11 though.

Specs always varies from PC to PC, so fully accurate is never possible. On the general line yep, nowadays hardware is even better than those in the specs.
I've been using an i7 4790k since 4 years now, 16GB of RAM, and GTX970 (and most recently a GTX1070).

Well, I try to tell what will work best from my experience.
6700k or 7700k is really close to best for the game in terms of CPU power currently, of course game is constantly evolving, but 8th gen intel for example is not giving too much more, fastest possible clock speed is good, low clock speed and many cores can't really do so well, but again that might change in future and many cores would allow more cars then, but that is something uncertain right now.

For GPU something in level of 1070, any faster does not do much more, 1060 will do just fine too, that is if running 1080p, for 4k one might want 1080Ti, maybe overclocked, but there is no CPU to match it, 6700k and 7700k overclocked to oblivion would be best, 5Ghz or more for 4K, I think.

SSD, absolutely SSD, game does run from HDD, but you get pauses, many games today are already requiring SSD, BeamNG does fine on HDD, but there will be hiccups.

Next spring comes new AMD which sounds quite promising, if it just has the clock speed, that is what this game enjoys, loads of clock speed and some cores to back that up.

For CPU Cinebench Single core score of 200 or higher is the best A class, i7-6700 of mine gets 174 and it is almost there, almost, 190 might do same as 200 or more, but there is never too much of single core performance for highest graphics. That is why I don't bring up much AMD options, because this is how to get 60fps without never dropping below in current version of the game and there is no substitute for single core performance. That of course might change in a future, wait for Italy I would say.

Now those are recommendations for gaming at 60fps graphics on high with some dynamic reflections and never dropping below 60fps.

Turning graphics down a bit allows game to run even on i3-6100 and 1050Ti 60fps or more most of the time without game looking poor, you can play game even with integrated GPU if turning graphics to lowest but it is not pretty then, however game will run surprisingly low hardware. i3-6100 with integrated GPU can run West Coast USA (heaviest map) 30fps and more, but that is on lowest graphics and 720p.

So about there from my experience is the range.

i9 or i8 are fine too, but turbo on those sucks, you practically have to overclock them to be able to get any better.

For example, Nadeox has 4790k, in practice i7-8086K runs game exactly same, well until adding really lot of vehicles that is and overcloking 8086K does give little improvement, but 6700k is better as it has less cores and does not suffer quite so badly from heat issues when overclocked.

4 core 8th gen CPU would be nice too, there with 6700k and so on, but while GPU performance has increased a lot and multicore performance has increased a lot, single core performance, which many games including this needs, has not improved hugely since 4th gen intel, so overclocked 4790k runs game about same as stock 8086k, which is bit sad for Intel, but that is how it is.

Low latency ram that has good clock speed, CL13 3200Mhz for example does have benefit over slower ram in this game, over 4000Mhz with high latency is not so nice and you can get such 3200Mhz ram relatively low cost compared to some others.

I have i7-8086K, i3-6100, i7-6700, gtx1050Ti and gtx1080 here to play with and I'm kinda obsessed with performance, don't know all, but have it figured out pretty well already :)

Budget then of course might limit options, but for that there is graphics options, which help to make game run with almost anything. To run more vehicles at the same time (props, cars, etc.) you need more cores, one physical core one car is rough guide, it varies per map and per vehicle, also with lower graphics you can run more vehicles, because reasons unrelated to GPU.

    Alright.

What about Ryzen 5? I know that 3 has four cores, while 5 has 6. I don't really think I would be able to do 4 cores when 1 vehicle takes up 1 core.
    --- Post updated ---
I might use 5 vehicles at times, and I don't want my game to be laggy.

Ryzen 5 if you want to use more vehicles, but number of cores will not be limiting factor as much as single core performance, that is at least for now.

Intel CPU is much stronger because of that, even with only 4 cores, but I guess that might change in future, no any solid information on that though, just guessing probabilities.

However with intel there are also some annoying aspects, like price, but also how 6700 is not much weaker than 8086k because turbo in 8086k is not kicking in.

i7-6700 non k is as fast as 2700X in single core performance, they run about same in certain situations, only if single core is not demanded much 2700X shines and that is not WCUSA map with several vehicles, that is single core limited even with one D15 and with bus or more vehicles that single core limit just is even worse, so Ryzen 3 or Ryzen 5 probably about same.

You want to run 5 cars at WCUSA without lag, set graphics to normal, shadows partial, no dynamic reflections, no SSAO, no DOF, no AA, use something like 8086K, maybe need small overclock.

I think this was 8086k overclocked to 4.8Ghz, still was bottleneck, that his high graphics and very low of the lowest dynamic reflections. Of course this was 0.13 version of BeamNG, but there has not been a huge change, however my understanding is that developers are working on improvement of CPU bottleneck, so in a future it is possible to get out of this limit:

SC test of my 8086k is over 200 points, my 6700 is 174 points, Ryzen 3 and 5 are less, afaik, haven't checked, but that is what my memory lies, but if you want to run 5 cars without lag, you will get 6700K or 7700K and overclock that to oblivion ignoring longetivity of the chip to reach that 5Ghz on all cores and then you can run 5 cars even at WCUSA without lag.

Some other maps run better of course, but waiting is best, next summer there will be new CPU options and new game versions, maybe both work better for your goals.

But Ryzen 5 and 5 cars at WCUSA without lag is not going to happen on high graphics.

Then again 1060 is not enough either for all eye candy at WCUSA, so you might need to reduce a bit of details, but it will run game really well, turning ssao off and dynamic reflections off and game will run quite nicely with 5 cars even with Ryzen 3 I presume, especially if turning graphics to normal. Turning shadows off and ssao off are biggest performance boosters.

So to recap, more cores does not equal more performance on high graphics with all eyecandy on, limit is in what single CPU core can do.

Ok. I have finished. Would this perform good? https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Jathan526/saved/X9hJ8d

To be honest, I will use 5 cars sometimes, but most of the time I will only be using 1 or 2. I forgot about single-core performance.

Change the cooler to a hyper 212. That seems to work well.
The motherboard you picked may be mediocre, so just research.

The Hyper 212 is a good cooler (have one of these as well), but it won't fit in his case. His case has a 140mm CPU cooler height limit, while the Hyper 212 is 159mm tall. :D

    Should I change the case?

I changed it to one it will fit.

The motherboard is made by MSI, I know lots of people who use their motherboards, I think it has pretty good qualtity. It also has good reviews.

I would probably change the PSU - haven't heard good things about Rosewill PSUs, but that's just my personal preference. Maybe you already know this, but you can't overclock with that motherboard - you would need a Z170 or Z270 motherboard to overclock your 6700K. If you don't care about overclocking then that's okay, just wanted to warn you just in case you didn't know.

Alright. I did want to overclock, and I hate faulty PSU's, so thanks

Also, if I do piece this together, for maximum performance in BeamNG, what do you recommend I overclock it To?

I just looked at your parts list and you seem to have picked some great parts. Glad to see you have now picked an intel CPU and a Gigabyte motherboard.

I'm not sure if you want to consider more fans? Personally 1 isn't enough for me... Although I tend to go overboard (I currently have 6 - 3 Intake and 3 exhaust).

I don't know much about overclocking so I can't help you there, although with your parts you probably wont need to overclock, I run BeamNG well on lower specs (Specs on my profile page)

Well, I looked at the case I had on there before, and it had a included fan and also only one more fan mount. I don't like the color of this white, so I am going to change it so hopefully I am going to get more fans.
    --- Post updated ---
Ok, changed it. The case comes with 2 fans, and buying three more fans ends up with five.

Wait. @fufsgfen, you said a GTX 1060 will run 1080p fine, right? If so, I just changed it because I don't have any 4k devices and I don't care much for it. Also, would the 1060 3Gb work? I am on budget. Speaking of budget, is there anything I can do to make it cheaper at the same time still getting great performance?
