Just like the title says, anyone got older iMacs/Macs on here? I got a late 2009 27 inch iMac with a 3.06 GHz core2duo 8 GB of cruical RAM. I got it brand new back in '09 as a birthday gift. I haven't turned it on since 2013 around the same time as OSX Lion was released. that was the last time I touched a OSX machine. Around 2012, I bought my 3770K HP prebuilt tower, I then lost interest in the iMac and OSX. I then rebuilt, my 3770K HP prebuilt tower into a custom build with all new components. So over the past years I have totally forgotten, I had this iMac lol. Today I decided to pull it out, plugged it in and boom it booted up in less than a minute. Updated it from OSX Lion to macOS Sierra and man this thing still flies for a dual core. Over the past, 4 or so years I have forgotten how user "friendly"/ easy to navigate OSX/macOS is compared to Windows. I'm currently updating, it to macOS High Sierra. I'll see what that's all about.
I have a fully operational 1999 iMac G3.I don’t remember what os it's running. Not my pic, but this is similar to mine:
I'm planning on buying up some older Macs just to play around with, and the nostalgia "feeling". I wanting to build, a Intel and or ryzen based hackintosh and dual boot Windows. I'm wanting the base chasis to be ethier a G5 or Mac pro case.
I have: 2011 Mac Pro - 2x Hexacore Intel Processors 2.6GHz, 32Gb Ram, 2Tb Hard drive, 2x Radeon HD 5770 Graphics Cards 2010 MacBook Pro - Intel Core2Duo 2.4GHz, 16Gb Ram, 1Tb SSD, NVidea 320M Graphics 99 iMac G3 - 700sih MHz Power PC... uhh... I dunno what all its running... Has OSX 10.8 though 98 Power Macintosh G3 All-In-One - 233 MHz Power PC, 315Mb Ram (how... I dunno), 60Gb HD (split 3 ways as the MoBo only can handle 20Gb hard drives) and heaven only knows what kind of Graphics card... But it also has OSX 10.8 on it by some sort of sorcery... and it runs really well!
Mac Os X 10.8 can't be installed on PPC macs since every version of OS X since 10.6 doesn't support the PPC architecture
Ahh, then it must have been 10.6... I will have to go look what is on there now because I could have sworn it was 10.8 but if 10.6 was the highest that PPC support goes, then that obviously isn't the case.
I have an old 26 inch or something late 2008 iMac, used rarely, mostly just a backup drive with a screen. Also, an old MacBook Pro from 2011 or 2012. Used for school, mostly.
Not really a Mac, but I have an Apple IIgs (working nearly perfect), and an iMac G5 (with a blown capacitor somewhere).
a 2007 macbook that I got for free, is held together with duck tape and my sister is using it to play minecraft until she ends up cooking it someday (once a crayon melted to it) or I give her my school laptop
