I don't think there's an official method for switching between the methods, which is a bit of a shame, but there is a way to overwrite the vehicles' names in the files.

If you go into the vehicles' files, there will be an "info.json" file that you can copy into a mod, similar to how I added chassis codes for the official vehicles in one of my mods.

For the file structure, you want to use the following folder names: Zipped_File_Name/vehicles/vehicle_filename/info.json.

i.e. if you want to change the Stambecco's name, you want to use Mod_Name/vehicles/midtruck/info.json for the midtruck.

Here's the filenames for vehicles that may be a bit confusing:
    -atv: Wydra
    -citybus: Wentward
    -coupe: 200BX
    -fullsize: Grand Marshal
    -midsize: 1996 Pessima
    -midtruck: Stambecco
    -pickup: D-Series
    -racetruck: Dunekicker
    -semi: T-Series
    -van: H-Series

I've got a template you can use for the official vehicles - it includes the info.json for every official vehicle. This will overwrite core game files, so it could break some mods you have, but it ought to work. Unpack it, go into every file, and change the name to what you want - one way to re-name them could be:

(First letter of model name) (Brand) (Model), like (F) Cherrier FCV

You can also do a similar thing with mods, as well.

That's what I was most afraid of, well i have over 700 mods (now 500 after cleaning broken ones) it's gonna be too much to change every vehicle name to other one. Welp, thanks for help tho.
