I saw a video and it made me think of the early engine place holders that BeamNG had before more engine details were added, they looked similar to the pic below from the Street Legal Racing Redline game from 2003,

    streetlegalracing.png

those cars were able to be bought, constructed and built at high detail, raced, crashed, and maintained, similar to how BeamNG may be setup when the full release is out. I was wondering if any Devs worked on the Street Legal Racing Redline project?

    The full video is here:

I didn't work on them, but I did play Street Legal quite a lot back in the day, and then SLRR when it came out. Also briefly the later game where you could weld and split parts to create weird insane car projects. Same game engine IIRC (I may be mistaken), I don't recall the game name tho. I think it was based on some kind of us-american tv show.

That YT video shows a completely distorted game compared to what I remember btw... seems to be heavily modified in questionable ways.

This game, Cross Racing Championship and 1NSANE were made by hungarian studio called Invictus. Their racing games in early 2000s already had soft-body physics which was pretty amazing and unique for a commercial game back in the day.

Hah, I remember the H-shifter emulation via mouse of CRC, that was an interesting approach!

a friend of mine found about SLRR about 3 years ago or so. when I found out it was available on Steam, I ended up buying it. fun game for what it is and maybe BeamNG can learn a thing or two from it.

Ah I love this gameeee! One of my favorites, I Basically grew up playing SLRR and Garrysmod. My favorite was how detailed the engine builds are and of course the damage. I remember one of the original slrr developers was going to create a SLRR 2 but it never got enough funding :(. None of us have worked on the street legal series but there are a lot that love the game :D!
