Very nice! Try making the airbags smaller though, they clip through the doors. Also will this work for mods? Also do you mind if i beta test?
There are quite a bit of mods with airbags in them, some 3-4 years old, however I do like seeing this idea come to light.
I just started to mess around with it. This version is not attached to car. It is just the trigger. Earlier testing with a car somewhere I messed something up... Got to work on that more. There is a trigger at the end of the box that starts a break group. breaking all the beams that are 1.0 pre-compression letting the ones that are 24 pre-compression take over. Should not be hard to get it in around the steering wheel. Like I said, I messed something up on the trucks jbeam attaching it lol (119) Airbag testing fail - Thought it was funny and worth sharing - YouTube Parachute also comes to mind... Using the same method Early Parachute Testing - Seems to work... (youtube.com)
That glitched probably occured due to the size of the airbag, To be fair, a passenger airbag is quite big but however, the collison might be able to be disabled on it. Great mod nonthe less
Link is in the video description. And instructions. There is not much to say. Like I said in the description, fix one thing, and something else needs to be fixed... Must have connected the airbag to one of the hydros by mistake. Seems to be what is going on. Pickup with Airbag - Early Testing - BeamNG (youtube.com)
Epic! Maybe move it fdorward and make the base undeployed model smaller tho... --- Post updated --- I cant find the airbags in the config
Latest Version should be about ready.... https://1drv.ms/u/s!AoPEwcmh86n11WCUpI_muLUPlT9h?e=vJ8aaQ I only packed what was needed for the airbag. Should pop up as a regular slot item for the pickup when the zip is in the mod folder. I also made a type of stand that you can think of as a small table, that holds the airbag in place. Should not take much to use Angelo123's jbeam editor for Blender to adjust for different cars. Rather than have the airbag connected to countless nodes of the truck, all would need to be attached going forward should just be 4 nodes from table bottom to frame of vehicle it is going on, and moved to fit where the steering wheel is for the thing. I tried to pre-compress the airbag to 0.01 in hopes it would be near invisible. But found that caused a lot more explosive force when it scaled to 5.0 pre-compression. Could be beam limits, I am not a math kind of person. My math is try a million things till something works. --- Post updated --- Added it to the Hopper with little effort... hopper_with_airbag.zip
Oh, that is the USA version... They do that here Thanks, I am going to adjust it more to be less sensitive. --- Post updated --- Yeah, got that working too.. But using a weight for testing. Can pretty much shrink anything down to a baseball size and expand with rapid expansion to an size. Earlier testing with drag racer was deploying and exploding the rear of the car. Got to figure out a tether to keep it safe distance. Like the ones they use, think they launch the parachute out the rear at a 45* angle and is a few feet before it opens. Early Parachute Testing - Seems to work... (youtube.com)
Sorry for bump but airbag in hopper makes steering wheel disappear after deployment and windshield explodes but still very cool mod
Just looking checked, yeah I did share this a while back.. I had the windsheild break a few times. Sinse the steering wheel is not a jbeam mesh, but a prop, it is a little different how it behaves. I just know they are different, I have not really looked into what makes them show up, and what not. But if the airbag deployed in a real car, you would not see nothing but airbag and smoke. Doubt you would see the wheel. I may get back around to working on this more. But it was pretty boring work to be honest. Was a project I was into for a few days then got bored with it. Anyone can take the mod and improve it, take it and turn it in as your own., I dont care. I never submitted it or planned to. Too much BS to navigate to post mods here.
