I have upgraded my PC with an AMD 5900X CPU that has 12 cores and it makes me happy. I was even happier when I realized that it generates more AI traffic, 12 simultaneous vehicles because, if I am not mistaken, the game handles 1 vehicle per core. This is great, it looks more realistic with traffic jams sometimes, but I am not sure the game is designed to handle so many AI vehicles. The AI cars often hit each other, they change from one lane to another and back at any time, any intersection is quickly blocked with cars that block each other and with accidents. Having more cars is good, but I believe AI could be improved. What do you think?
The traffic AI is still being worked on, it is far from being perfect considering how complex it probably is, however there should be updates in the near future improving traffic AI, because I'd like to see that being improved as well.
The traffic AI has come a incredibly long way since first being introduced, but I do feel the last update was a step backwards in this regard. Before the update cars would spawn consistently and generally behave themselves, however now I notice the spawning is much more inconsistent, occasionally spawning stationary, and often cars will not respawn at all if crashed into. Hoping this can be fixed in the next update.
I agree with this, but another thing i noticed (on GeForce Now), during scenarios with traffic, some cars just spawn and don't move at all, it still is a bit buggy..
Ah right I see what you mean. Even if that's the case though, it's definitely become more noticeable in my opinion, especially when travelling at high speed on a freeway. I can actually see cars spawning and then de-spawning in the distance which I swear never used to happen. Like it can take a while for anything to actually spawn at all, even with 12 cars enabled, then they'll suddenly all spawn one after the other.
I only had this issue with one mod, however it'd still respawn in different places, it just wouldn't move. And another thing I noticed is that some vehicles will accelerate but then they'll just come to a complete stop randomly with their hazards on, and won't move until they respawn.
Ahhh a fellow 12 corer, The AI are pretty much placeholders for now i reckon, i wasnt aware its 1 core per AI hmmm ill have to try 12 myself see how it goes.
Then you have something bork or too many mods, I can run with that CPU 20 cars if not more (depends on draw calls)
I was exaggerating but the framerate I get in-game is quite poor considering the computer I have. Its more like 8-10 cars until It becomes unplayable
I get a high framerate its just extremely choppy and goes from 100fps to 10 in a second, rendering it unplayable.
