below is a list of advice for newcomers 1: Please do not bump old threads, they died for a reason. 2: Please do not spam the forums with the update will be released when it is ready! 3: There is such thing as please use this for arguing and such(so it does not spam the "whats new?" tab. 4: There is such a thing as it is handy when looking for a bug you may have experienced, please use this before making a thread about a bug that may have been solved. 5: Only Stay Within the first 18 threads of the mods section, going further there is usually unupdated mods, and/or broken mods, this also brings the first point into account
This thread needs to he made sticky and the title change to "follow these rules or you will be banned".
I think the most important thing for a newcomer - to any forum - to remember is "don't be a moron", which includes all of this and more. Sadly, I have more personal experience with being the n00by moron than I'd really like to, but that's what happens when your internet career reaches back to when you were barely even a pre-teen. For this forum, I would say that if you frequently post "when is next update plz", "gaebenstar plz maek [fill in the blank] plz", or "why doesn't beam have multiplayer", or if any of those is your first post, you're being a moron. If you made a new thread about either of the first two, or a thread about multiplayer that isn't well-thought-out and intended for (not really, but you know what I mean) productive discussion with the full knowledge that the thing itself is not really feasible quite yet, you're probably being a moron. If people quite frequently struggle to figure out what you're trying to say, or just can't believe it when they do, you're probably being a moron. Also, don't come in with your first post and act like you own the place. That covers a lot of the above as well.
@danielon398767 You should add that you should only get mods from the BeamNG Mods Tab and the Forums.
Well, there are two ways of handling a forum. One of them is to keep it isolated of newcomers by beeing a total cunt to them if they're doing something wrong. Personally I'm a huge fan of "play stupid games, get stupid prices" but the risk is too high to get really fast a really toxic discussion culture. It works great to maintain a core audience but it isnt the right way for a official forum of a game. So, there is only one way left: Provide good FAQs, guidelines, etc. and if somebody is missing or ignoring them, be patient with the newbies and still provide as much help as possible or tell them what theyre doing wrong in a kind way. Its the better culture anyways even if its annoying sometimes. But i cant complain about this place, its one of the best official forums i know for a game. Its not perfect, but thats never gonna happen anywhere anyways. /What i wanted to say is: This thread is a good idea to maintain a good atmosphere in this place. Thank you!
I wish topics with a last post older than 1 month require moderator approval. I used to admin a XenForo forum so I'm pretty sure this is possible.
That could be a good idea, actually. Bumps that are truly worthwhile (reviving a thread that shouldn't have died or is still relevant, actually providing new information, etc.) would get let through, while newbies (and oldbies too, it happens) would be prevented from obliviously bumping three-year-old, no-longer-relevant threads, and threads that needed to die will stay dead.
Another point to add: Do not behave immaturely like jamesgemma05 or else you may be banned by moderators.
