Hi devs and fellow Automation fans, I’d love to suggest a feature that would add both realism and flexibility to car design in Automation: the ability to assign multiple functions to a single light fixture—like a taillight that acts as both a brake light and an indicator. Why This Matters: In real-world automotive design, it’s common for a single light unit to serve multiple purposes: Brake + Indicator (especially in older or American cars) Reverse + Indicator (in some compact designs) Running Light + Brake Light (common in LED strips) Currently, Automation only allows one function per light fixture, which means we have to: Overlap multiple fixtures in the same spot (which can look odd or cause visual artifacts) Or manually edit the .jbeam files after export to BeamNG (which isn’t beginner-friendly) Suggested Implementation: A simple checkbox system in the light fixture settings could do the trick: Light Function: [✓] Brake [✓] Left Indicator [ ] Reverse [ ] Running Light This would allow for much more accurate replicas and creative freedom without needing to leave the Automation editor. ️ Bonus: If this could also be reflected in the exported .jbeam files automatically, it would save a ton of time and make the BeamNG integration even smoother. Thanks for considering this! I think it would be a small change with a big impact on the quality and realism of Automation builds.
